An update on Atlas ❤️ Yesterday Atlas had his heart scan, and the good news is that the vets could not see any obvious adult heartworms in his heart . Of course, this doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that there may be a few very small ones that are simply too difficult to see on the scan. This means that Atlas will need to undergo the injection treatment for heartworm as he has the immature worms circulating thru the body. Unfortunately, this treatment can be very harsh, so the vets are going to do everything they can to make sure Atlas is as strong and stable as possible before and during treatment, and that he is able to cope with it safely. Atlas also has a heart murmur, which is another reason why the vets are being especially careful with him. The really positive news is that Atlas is on his paws, he is eating well, and little by little we are getting through all the diagnostics to understand exactly what is wrong with him and, most importantly, to make a plan for his future. His damaged paw is being dressed and checked every day, and it is looking surprisingly positive. What initially looked much worse now gives us hope that we may be able to save his foot and avoid amputation. ❤️ So, with all your support, Atlas is doing well so far. But I want to be completely honest with you: the treatment ahead can be very harsh. Sadly, we have lost a dog before during this treatment. It is a treatment I absolutely hate. There are risks, and those risks are very real. Today we have another meeting with the vets, and we will see where we are and what the next steps will be. For now, Atlas is eating, standing on his paws, and fighting his way through this — one step at a time. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for supporting Atlas and giving him this chance. ❤️

It seems like a good time for an update on Pepito Pants.l Well, quite frankly, we should have called him Speedy Gonzales! 😂 He was rescued with a broken back and recently had surgery with a specialised neuro vet. He’s been doing his physio exercises six times a day, and when I opened his kennel this morning, he sped off so fast I could barely keep up with him! He’s also prone to a little bit of gymnastics during breakfast time, just to keep us on our toes! 😂 He’s not quite using his legs the way he should be yet, but honestly, watching him zoom around like that is amazing. Anyway, Pepito Pants is doing really well, and we’re hoping for lots more recovery and progress very soon. ❤️

Hey guys, we really need your help 🙏🏻 We need you to share Nene, who has now been here for nearly TWO YEARS. We honestly don’t know why she still hasn’t found her home. However, after quickly checking her webpage profile, it seems that X-rays belonging to another dog were accidentally uploaded onto Nene’s page. We are worried this may have put potential adopters off. So please IGNORE the information on her webpage for now and, instead, share this video so people can see the real Nene. ❤️ Nene did arrive with a very old hip injury, but she has never needed any kind of operation and she is perfectly fine. Once she’s out of her kennel, she can actually be a very sweet girl. She is almost six years old and has spent nearly two years of her life waiting in the kennel for someone to give her a chance. Please, can we get Nene OUT? I would hate to think she has missed an opportunity simply because of an error on her profile. Unfortunately, these things can sometimes happen on the webpage — information can glitch, get switched over, or be uploaded incorrectly, and keeping everything up to date is a huge job. So please help us help Nene🙏 Share this video, tag someone who might be looking for a lovely dog, and let’s finally give this girl the chance she deserves to find her forever home. 🐾❤️

This is such a sad story, so I really hope everyone will come together and give little Bony a share. ❤️ Bony spent eight years in the same loving home after being adopted from a perrera in Murcia. Sadly, her dad has fallen on difficult times and, with a very heavy heart, has handed Bony over to Galgos del Sol so that we can help her find a new family. She’s understandably very confused. After eight years of receiving love, care and having a home of her own, she suddenly finds herself somewhere completely unfamiliar and without her family. 💔 But we know Bony will be absolutely fine. She’s a lovely, affectionate girl who loves to cuddle, and what we really want is to find her a new home as quickly as possible. Bony is already sterilised, 8yrs old, negative for leishmania and fully up to date with her vaccinations, so she is ready to go. She has been used to living as an only dog, but she’s also doing really well with the other dogs. She’s good on a lead, friendly, affectionate and just a genuinely lovely girl. ❤️ After eight years of having a family, the last thing Bony needs is to spend a long time at Galgos del Sol. So please, please share this video. 🙏 Let’s get Bony seen by as many people as possible and, hopefully, find her the loving family she deserves. Eight years of love shouldn’t end with Bony being alone. ❤️ Please share and help us get this beautiful girl home. 🐾

Poor Cornetto urinates himself if you simply look at him or get too close. 💔 How can a three-year-old Galgo end up in this condition if hunters love their dogs so much? He isn’t even prepared for the most basic things in life. Cornetto deserves so much better. Let’s get him out of the kennels and into a loving home where he can finally feel safe and learn what kindness is ❤️ A simple share could change his whole world. Please help Cornetto. 🙏🐾

RAMOS CAN’T WAIT MUCH LONGER 😞‼️ We are trying to focus on the scared overlooked ones and Ramos is a perfect candidate. He arrived 2yrs ago and used to wee himself when you looked at him. He does come out on walks and does ok but generally the kennels are scary for him. Ramos is 6yrs old desperately waiting for his quiet home. Someone out there surely has what he needs? ❤️ Plz share 🙏🏻

Bonnie, the Golden Retriever, arrived at GDS a few days ago along with some other dogs from China. Bonnie was found on a meat truck with an injury to her head. Her destination… to be eaten. 💔 These dogs were on their way to their new homes in the UK, but sadly, the rules regarding entry have changed and they were unable to travel to the UK from Spain. Kerry from Candy's Hound Rescue International asked if we could help Bonnie, the Golden, Rita, an older Husky, and Selene, a Greyhound. Of course, we said yes! ❤️ Bonnie is understandably a little stressed in kennels. She must have been someone’s pet, or at least experienced love and kindness at some point in her life. Just look at how obedient she is and how much she wants to please people. 🥹 Is this a typical Golden Retriever trait? She’s only our second Golden, so we’d love to hear from you! Bonnie is learning so incredibly quickly — although perhaps she simply had it in her all along 🥰 Bonnie is approximately 2 years old and is looking for a loving home somewhere in Europe. She cannot travel to the UK. If you think Bonnie could be the girl for you, please contact us and mention “Bonnie the Golden”, as we also have a Galgo called Bonnie. From a meat truck to a loving home filled with adventures, happiness and love. 🐾❤️ Can we make it happen? Let’s give Bonnie the life she has always deserved. 🥹❤️

Kiwi is on treatment for leishmania and the worst has happened. His kidneys were ok but he’s gone into kidney failure very quickly. He’s such a big gentle giant and honestly it’s not looking good. Please send him a nice message 🙏🏻❤️ We need him to make it 😔

RIVER COLLAPSED‼️ Sadly River took a turn for the worst and we are waiting to confirm if it’s neurological caused by the parvo or just weakness. To remind you that parvo pups generally don’t have big fluffy beds as materials like blankets are thrown away every 6 hrs as they get pooped on and are contagious and dangerous. We use the plastic beds which are cool in this heat and easy to sterilize with a solution that kills parvo. Thank you! Our focus is to save River ❤️

The Millipedes are sadly dying one by one. Despite our amazing volunteers helping with bottle and tube feeding it’s just not working. It looks like we will likely lose all but one. One is strong, possibly the first one to be born. RIP to those gone so far 🌈❤️
