#BroadPeakUpdate Mountaineers and rescue volunteers from Shimshal and Baltistan have successfully moved the body of late Shaman | Sohail Sakhi away from the avalanche spot to a safer location. They secured the body with ropes and other technical equipment and placed it inside a dry cave where the stable temperature will help preserve the body until it can be transported. Today, Pakistan Aviation deployed two helicopters to evacuate the body to Skardu. However due to unknown reason helicopters had to return to Skardu without the body. The rescue operation is expected to resume tomorrow weather and conditions permitting Hats off to our real heroes Their courage hard work and determination in such a dangerous and technically challenging environment deserve the highest recognition. Murad Sadpara stood among the truest heroes of the Karakoram an exceptional high altitude mountaineer whose fortitude and resilience transcended the very limits of human endurance. He etched his name into mountaineering history by retrieving the body of climber Hassan Shigri from an altitude of approximately 8,200 meters on K2 marking the first successful recovery from the mountain’s infamous “Death Zone.” He also brought down the body of an Afghan climber from Camp III and later assisted in recovering Hassan Shigri’s remains from the perilous Bottleneck, placing his own life in grave jeopardy to grant others the dignity of a final farewell. Despite such extraordinary accomplishments, the recognition he deserved remained insufficient. Murad summited Nanga Parbat twice within the span of a single week, endured fifteen minutes atop K2’s summit without a shirt, and time and again proved himself to be among Pakistan’s most formidable and fearless mountaineers. Tragically, scarcely a week after that historic recovery on K2, Murad himself perished on Broad Peak engaged in the very pursuit he loved most. Nearly two years have elapsed, yet his legacy continues to resonate profoundly, inspiring climbers across the globe. This year, Broad Peak has once again underscored the unforgiving reality of the high mountains, claiming ten precious lives. The global mountaineering community mourns each soul lost upon these mangnificent summits. May Allah grant Murad Sadpara and all those who lost their lives on Broad Peak the highest rank in Jannah. Ameen. Their courage shall never fade into oblivion their legacy shall endure for eternity.

I am crying from frustration how helpless are we as a nation? We earn billions of rupees every year from these magnificent mountains yet Pakistan still does not have a properly equipped dedicated high altitude search and rescue system. As a result we have lost far too many heroes in these mountains. Had Pakistan possessed a specialised high altitude rescue system perhaps Murad Sadpara could have been saved, Muhammad Ali Sadpara could have been rescued, and many other lives could have been saved through timely intervention. Yet we still do not know when our policymakers will finally establish a professional fully equipped high altitude rescue service. Look carefully at this video. Normally porters do not go beyond the advanced camps or even Camp 1. Yet these young courageous local heroes pushed themselves into an extremely dangerous area. They had no idea that they would find Sohail Sakhi’s body there. Perhaps somewhere his elderly mother had been praying Ya Allah at least let us find my Sohail’s body and bring him home. These young men had virtually no specialised rescue equipment. They had little more than an ice hammer. Using it they painstakingly dug through the deep snow and ice covering the body. Then they saw the beard and realised This is "Sohail" What followed was nearly three hours of relentless physical effort. This was not a commercial rescue operation. There was no financial reward waiting for them. It was a voluntary act of courage humanity and brotherhood They finally recovered Sohail’s body moved it to a safer location ice cave and subsequently brought him down to Broad Peak Base Camp These three young men did what a professional rescue system should have been equipped and trained to do. They are not merely porters. They are the unsung heroes of the Karakoram. Shehbaz Sharif
