The academic community has had a big problem taking aliens seriously. Well, they are ok with aliens far, far away in distant galaxies, the entirely theoretical, but they are not so keen on the suggestion that real live extraterrestrials are right here in our solar system.

The interstellar object 31/ATLAS has been imaged by the Hubble telescope. It's clearly showing a coma As expected for a comet and the tail should become more obvious as it gets nearer to the sun. It is likely the initial size estimates will be revised downwards for the nucleus.
