He himself later said, "I forgot to mention Shubman Gill in the last conversation, but there’s a lot of competition for the top four I’d still love to see Ruturaj get a fair call." But let’s be honest: there is no competition for India’s top four. Everyone knows who those four are, and they’ve been performing consistently for many years. The real issue is people judging too quickly. Suddenly they want Ruturaj to be the permanent backup, or they hype him into the top four after just one century. Let him play more matches. Let him settle, grow, and prove himself over time. One hundred doesn’t mean he walks into the top four.
