This player took PTO to play the LPGA in Mexico and cashed a paycheck It's not often that a player has to take PTO to compete on the LPGA. Alana Uriell came into the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba in Mexico fully expecting to be by the pool on the weekend enjoying a margarita. Instead, she found herself with a weekend tee time. "I have a golf team with Visa that I play golf with regularly," said Uriell, "and I think they're at home right now cheering me on and saying, man, I played golf with her last week. We were having a White Claw together on the golf course." Full story below!

How has the game changed? Amy Alcott gives an absolutely epic answer: "How has the tour changed? ... well, this gal over here, she had her Power Bar and she's got her team with her and she's got an endorsement deal drinking a certain kind of water and she's got a yoga instructor, and she's got that, all these modern-day things. I flipped the guy's shoulders around and I said, see that lady on the putting green? He says, yeah, JoAnne Carner working on her putting over there? I said, JoAnne, her breakfast in the morning is a half a grapefruit and three cups of coffee and your cigarette (laughter). And she likes to imbibe a nice vodka every now and then. "That's how the tour's changed."

Michelle Wie West on the 'nervy' 82 she shot in her first LPGA start in three years: "It was funny, I wasn't nervous going in, and I get to the first tee and I'm like holy s-h-i-t. I now spell my curse words because I'm a mom. "I was like, wow, the hole all of a sudden looks so small. Got to a 2-footer and I'm like, I'm not going to hit the hole. No way."

Alison Lee is trying to become the first mom to win the U.S. Women's Open in nearly 25 years. She's playing in her 10th event worldwide since having son Levi via C-section last April and her press conferences are about the most relatable thing going in sports. "I clean the house a million times, and it still looks like a tornado went through. I think I just have to accept my house is a mess and I can't ever have people over. "Yeah, then I just do the same thing over and over again. There are days where, if he doesn't sleep great, it is really difficult. I'm not going to lie, there are days where I'll just start crying because I'm so tired, like I can't do this."

It wasn’t just that Asterisk Talley spoke with the press yesterday after a devastating collapse on Amen Corner. Though that in itself was a feat. Talley, 17, answered many of the questions that came her way on the podium through tears. She was thorough, thoughtful and gracious. Not once did she try to cut the interview short, answering more than a dozen questions until there were no more. Sometimes, the most compelling story is that of the brokenhearted. It’s when we learn the most about a person. On Saturday at Augusta, a junior player who has already experienced tough losses endured her toughest yet, and she handled it with class. Here’s Talley on the quadruple-bogey 7 she made on the par-3 12th at Augusta National:

The LPGA’s No. 1 player was asked about burnout and her answer was fantastic. “You know, sometimes you get lazy. You get burnout of hitting balls. When you guys have been in the office for a long time, I'm pretty sure you get burned out sometimes. But life goes on. Still have work to do. If not, we got no moneeeey.” (Keep in mind that Jeeno Thitikul, 22, has made over $17 million inside the ropes!)

Fresh off a top-25 finish at the U.S. Women's Open, Asterisk Talley is ready for her second Curtis Cup. Talley, 17, defeated Lottie Woad in singles at Sunningdale. “The close ones are always a little extra special, but I think if we dominate that would be amazing too.”
