Utah and Colorado compete over a lot of things – who has the better mountains, the better skiing, the better economy, etc. I think it’s Utah, and Governor Jared Polis thinks it's Colorado. But one thing we agree on, is that Americans need to learn how to #DisagreeBetter and that healthy conflict results in better policy. This year as chair and vice chair of NGA, we’re setting out to do just that. We hope you’ll join us!

Today we’ve convened as the governors of Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Montana, and Hawai‘i to focus on the issues that matter most to western states. We like to say that potholes aren’t partisan, and that spirit is exactly why the West works. I’m grateful to be working together on housing, water, energy, and the other challenges and opportunities we share across our states.

Each year, tens of thousands of people use the Colorado River Trail, but a missing connection has forced bikers and pedestrians onto a narrow stretch of highway with little room to move safely. Utah DOT is closing that gap and beginning a larger statewide effort to build paved trail connections that work for residents, visitors, and future generations. More here:

MAJOR UPDATE: Utah recorded no agricultural land sales to foreign entities in 2024 — the most recent year of verified data. This is confirmed by Utah Public Safety the Farm Service Agency, which reported no AFIDA filings last year. Thanks to HB516, Utah now prohibits adversarial foreign entities from purchasing land and requires those that already own it to sell. We’ll keep defending Utah land and liberty. 🇺🇸

As my first executive order following inauguration, I am asking state agencies to further streamline permitting and empower Utahns to build a future of abundance. I think about the days when my family’s company laid fiber optic lines to places like Scofield and Beaver Mountain. Back then, permitting was fast and collaboration was the norm. We can do it again. It shouldn’t take years to get approval for a project that benefits our communities and strengthens our economy. Read more here:
