Utah should remain a place where the next generation can build a life, raise a family and own a home. That’s why we created the Utah First Homes Award to recognize communities and partners helping make homeownership more attainable. This round, we’re recognizing La Verkin City, Washington City, DR Horton, Cole West and SITLA for projects delivering more attainable homes in southern Utah, including 750 homes in La Verkin priced between $360,000 and $420,000 and approximately 220 single-family homes in Washington City averaging $425,000 or less. Projects like this show what is possible.

Utah and Colorado compete over a lot of things – who has the better mountains, the better skiing, the better economy, etc. I think it’s Utah, and Governor Jared Polis thinks it's Colorado. But one thing we agree on, is that Americans need to learn how to #DisagreeBetter and that healthy conflict results in better policy. This year as chair and vice chair of NGA, we’re setting out to do just that. We hope you’ll join us!

Today we’ve convened as the governors of Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Montana, and Hawai‘i to focus on the issues that matter most to western states. We like to say that potholes aren’t partisan, and that spirit is exactly why the West works. I’m grateful to be working together on housing, water, energy, and the other challenges and opportunities we share across our states.

MAJOR UPDATE: Utah recorded no agricultural land sales to foreign entities in 2024 — the most recent year of verified data. This is confirmed by Utah Public Safety the Farm Service Agency, which reported no AFIDA filings last year. Thanks to HB516, Utah now prohibits adversarial foreign entities from purchasing land and requires those that already own it to sell. We’ll keep defending Utah land and liberty. 🇺🇸
