Coloradans know that small businesses, innovation, and hard work create good jobs and strong communities. Government ownership of private companies, like what we’re seeing from the White House buying shares in Intel and other companies, puts too much economic and political power in one place and makes it harder for people to succeed. I believe in free enterprise and expanding opportunity so every Coloradan has the chance to thrive.

Today I signed laws to rebalance Colorado’s budget after President Trump and Colorado House Republicans created a billion-dollar budget hole with H.R. 1. After signing the laws I sent Representatives Gabe Evans, Jeff Hurd, Lauren Boebert, and Jeff Crank pens that I used to sign the laws to fix the budget hole they created.

The EPA's decision that greenhouse gases are not a public health issue flies in the face of decades of data about the negative public health impact of greenhouse gases, including heat exposure and fire risk. Colorado is all too familiar with the effects of climate change, seeing the three largest fires in our state's history and the most destructive in the last five years. Despite the EPA's denial of scientific reality, Colorado will continue to achieve our ambitious clean energy goals to save people more on energy bills, reduce emissions, and improve our air quality and health.
