#WATCH: The supply of mutton to #Kashmir has reportedly been affected once again after Kashmiri truckers alleged that they were stopped by unidentified persons in #Punjab despite a consensus reportedly being reached during negotiations a day earlier. According to the truckers, they were allegedly assaulted and forced to pay an illegal levy before being allowed to proceed. They claimed the incident has created fear among transporters and disrupted the movement of mutton consignments destined for the Valley.

#Watch | A tourist couple from Kolkata was allegedly robbed by their cab driver at Banihal while visiting Kashmir. According to the complaint, the driver fled with the couple’s belongings after dropping them off. The driver has been identified as Amit, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and the vehicle involved bears registration number UP16 NT 6191. The victims have appealed to the authorities to trace the cab and apprehend the driver so that their belongings can be recovered at the earliest. Police have taken cognizance of the matter and an investigation is underway

#Watch: An army officer has been charged for a "murderous assault" over excess cabin luggage at #Srinagar airport that left four #SpiceJet employees with "grievous injuries," including a spinal fracture, the airline has said. Hosted by Haneefa Nursing College in collaboration with Hakim Sonuallah Specialist Hospital and Cancer Centre, the event brought together participants from 18 nursing colleges across Kashmir for an inter-college declamation competition and an expert panel discussion on the theme, 'Declining Birth Rate in Kashmir: Causes, Consequences and Way Forward.' What emerged was less a routine academic seminar and more a generational debate on changing priorities, delayed marriages, infertility concerns, migration and the pressures of modern life increasingly influencing family decisions in the Valley. Students examined the issue through social, economic, medical and cultural lenses, pointing to rising career aspirations, stress, lifestyle changes and limited reproductive health awareness as key factors contributing to the decline. The discussion also focused on the long-term implications of falling birth rates, including shrinking family structures, workforce challenges and the broader impact on Kashmir’s social and economic future. Senior Editor, Greater Kashmir, Nazir Ganaie, sits down with the former Principal of Government Medical College Srinagar and noted paediatrician Dr Kaiser Ahmad, along with Dr Farhat Jabeen, Prof Tamkeena Khan and Prof Masooma Rizvi to undertake the issue in detail. The speakers stressed the need for evidence-based public discourse, timely medical consultation, stronger healthcare infrastructure and greater awareness around reproductive health.
