Today, the Ethiopian Air Force carried out drone strikes on several trucks smuggling weapons and ammunition from Eritrea. The trucks were traveling from Eritrea toward Mekelle and intercepted on the road between Adi Nebreid and Adi Daero. From the outside they appeared to be carrying humanitarian aid; underneath, they were transporting weapons and ammunition.

Here is a video showing Zemene Kassie traveling from Asmara to Mekelle five days ago. As I have said before, he was disguised and mixed in with civilian vehicles. This should serve as a lesson for the federal government to act next time. The Ethiopian government must issue a warning that, from now on, anyone crossing the border from Eritrea into Ethiopia will be treated as an enemy combatant. Once that warning has been issued, the government should use drone strikes against vehicles crossing the border from Eritrea.
