6.8L V8 we are not worthy No, that is not a typo. And get ready because there are more shocking numbers to come. If you weren't aware, Jensen International has been peacefully going about their business for a while making faithfully restomodded versions of their iconic Interceptor model. But now, it's time for a change. Starting here with the Jensen Interceptor GTX, a drastic change in direction for the company, but admittedly a pretty fun one. The GTX is a track-only, big-winged, stripped out racer with a bored out GM LT1 V8 under the hood. Displacement is up from 6.2 to 6.8 liters, with an additional 2.65L of supercharger stuck on top for a total of 950 horsepower. (Jensen claims it can develop 1,200 ponies if you really hate your tires) That power is sent through a carbon driveshaft to a rear transaxle, in this case a 6-speed sequential with straight-cut gears, but apparently a traditional automatic or H-pattern manual are not out of the question. Now you may be thinking, ok cool, will there be a road-going version? Well, not quite yet. Plans are laid out for a four-seat grand tourer, and a street-legal version of this GTX, but first priority is to use this track car to gauge overall interest, and to use it as a stepping stone for full-scale production. At the end of the day, this is still a very small group putting this whole thing together. Official pricing for the GTX has not been announced, but Jensen boss David Duerden suggests somewhere around £850,000 or roughly $1,145,000

But it was an industry game-changer not (just) because it was electric. Not (just) because it was from a startup. Not (just) because it set the stage for the company to create the world's bestselling passenger car. But because it was created using Silicon Valley-style continual iteration. Tesla never stopped improving the Model S — rolling in hundreds, or even thousands, of running changes during its production: both hardware and software.
