In the 1980's, Canadian broadcaster Global found a loophole in Canadian broadcasting legislation. Instead of broadcasting test patterns on screen and losing out on overnight revenue, they could send a cameraman into the city to walk around and film the streets of Toronto. Global producers decided to create their own original music to accompany the show instead of losing out on licensing fees. Because the show was entirely "Canadian Content", this allowed Global to leave key primetime slots open to broadcast American content. The show was called Night Walk. Although Night Walk was created to exploit a loophole, the footage that was left behind now looks like a time capsule.

Canada is rapidly losing farmland to urbanization and development. Every single day, Ontario loses 319 acres of farmland. The country loses 2,700 acres of farmland. Once you build on farmland, it's gone forever. You can't replace it. This is a crisis that basically nobody is talking about.

One of my main issues with separatism, both in Quebec and in Alberta, is that I view both provinces as part of my inheritance as a Canadian. Carving out either province fundamentally changes my country, and the only people who get a say on such a matter are registered voters currently living in that province. A brand new citizen who became eligible to vote only one day before a referendum would have the ability to vote on whether or not to change Canada forever. My ancestors settled in Alberta in the early 20th century before moving to Ontario. I asked Alberta independence activist Keith Wilson to respond to this concern. Listen to his response:
