On the morning of April 14, 1561, between around 4:00 and 5:00 a.m., the citizens of Nuremberg, experienced a mysterious display in the sky. This event was documented by Hans Glaser, a printer and woodcut artist, who published a broadsheet describing what many residents observed. His illustration and accompanying account depict a variety of strange shapes seen in the sky above the city. According to his report, observers saw red, blue, and black spheres, crosses, objects that looked like cylinders or tubes, reddish arcs, and a large dark form described as a "black spear" pointing westward. These shapes appeared to move rapidly, seemingly engaging in a chaotic struggle that lasted around an hour.
