Adriano Mazzotti has well-documented historical ties to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), primarily through financial support and a personal friendship with Julius Malema. 4. Sayed allegedly hired Wiandre Pretorius with facilitation by SAPS Major-General Feroz Khan to help combat rivals in the illicit cigarette trade. 5. Wiandre Pretorius died by suicide on Saturday, 7 February 2026. Pretorius had been named in testimony at the Madlanga Commission. Linked to the murder of “Witness D” Marius van der Merwe. 6. Sayed also previously employed Matipandile “Andy” Sotheni as a personal bodyguard. 7. Sotheni has since been linked as a suspect of interest in high-profile murders, including that of Madlanga Commission "Witness D" (Marius van der Merwe). 8. Sayed has notable political and police ties. He is close to General Feroz Khan, who attended an EFF gala dinner with him and Mazzotti, with Sayed reportedly buying Khan's ticket. 9. Mazzotti provided R200,000 in his personal capacity to help the EFF register with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) ahead of the 2014 elections. 10. The EFF and Malema have openly acknowledged this as crucial early support. A SARS donation declaration form and receipt for donations tax confirm the payment. 11.
