It's deeply concerning that anti-Jewish protests are being organised during a time when the Jewish community is mourning the greatest loss of life since the Holocaust. People who are out supporting leaders of terrorist organisations, should be held to account and should be condemned for their actions. This is an anniversary of 1,200 people losing their lives, and that's why these protests shouldn't go ahead.

Anti-Semitism has surged over 700% in Australia—it should never have come to this. When vile acts unfolded at the Sydney Opera House, strong leadership could have stopped the spread of hate. Instead, Australians were met with weakness from the Prime Minister.

The Coalition stands with Israel always because Israel is Australia’s long-standing ally. We stand with Israel in the wake of Hamas’ acts of depravity. And we stand with Australians of Jewish faith and utterly condemn any anti-Semitic behaviour. Grateful to spend time with local Rabbis and address the Rabbinical Council of NSW in Sydney today.

The scenes of antisemitism that we have seen in recent weeks have no place in our country. The Prime Minister must convene an urgent meeting of National Cabinet to ensure steps are taken by all States and Territories to ensure Jewish Australians are safe in their communities.

This is the referendum that Australia did not have to have. The proposal – and the process – should have been designed to unite Australians, not divide them. What we have seen is Australians in their millions reject the Prime Minister’s divisive referendum. The Coalition, like all Australians, want to see Indigenous disadvantage addressed. We must redouble efforts to improve outcomes for Indigenous Australians in disadvantaged communities and to close the gap. That includes an urgent need to boost law and order, school attendance and employment in many remote communities. And that means listening less to activists and more to people in those communities and those who champion them - including Senators Kerrynne Liddle and Jacinta Nampijinpa

A Chinese fighter jet has dropped flares in front of an Australian Navy helicopter in a dangerous mid-air confrontation. This was a provocative and unnecessary act. The Prime Minister should pick up the phone to President Xi and express Australia’s deep concern at these actions.

We must stand united against anti-Semitism and rebuild harmony in our country. Today, I’m proud to announce that a Coalition Government will commit $8.5 million to expand the Sydney Jewish Museum, ensuring future generations learn the lessons of history. Learning from history helps us fight against anti-Semitism and harmful ideas. But it’s going to take all of us, as a society, working together to stop the spread of hate and ensure future generations are educated and informed.

The scenes last night in Sydney at the Opera House of burning the Israeli flag, and chanting hateful slogans at Jewish people were despicable - and they have no place in modern Australia. I condemn these actions totally and unequivocally. These awful scenes are a reminder of the fact we need to continue our support for the people of Israel and the Jewish community here in Australia at what is a very dark hour
