I was born in Ashtown, Kumasi. Many years ago, that durbar ground where the funeral was held was a football park. We used to play "gala" with the hausas living in Asawase and Akwatia Line. This small town has given Ghana some of the best brains, including the late Dr. Thomas Mensa, who was one of the inventors of fibre-optics. When you grow up in Ashtown, there are two things involved. You either become extremely successful or flip to the other side. There's no middle ground. It was the real "street". Ashtown is like the City of London. It is the historic core of Kumasi and where Asante ingenuity is held.
