Yesterday in Philadelphia, when President John Mahama met Ghanaian students, I found myself uneasy as he began addressing the withdrawal of the Lincoln degree conferment. I was uncertain about the tone he would strike. Immediately he said, “Whatever disagreements have arisen, for me, Lincoln University holds a special place in my heart. It is where our first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was nurtured intellectually,” It became clear that he had struck exactly the right note. Measured, respectful and reflective.
