UPDATE: NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the stabbings as “random and unprovoked” attacks carried out by a woman with a history of mental health problems. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, wielded two knives as she approached a 68-year-old man in Times Square and stabbed him in the abdomen. Moments later, she stabbed a 32-year-old woman in the stomach. Police soon confronted Cisneros and attempted to get her to drop the knives. Officers spoke with her for approximately 4 minutes, during which she refused to comply and threatened to kill them. Multiple officers deployed Tasers in an attempt to subdue Cisneros, but she continued moving toward them while armed with the knives. Two officers then fired their service weapons, striking Cisneros. The female victim and Cisneros were pronounced dead from their injuries. The male victim survived and is currently in stable condition.

Angel Victoria Murdock reportedly documented her supposed journey as a Duke PA student, building a huge online following, landing brand deals, and even appearing on a Netflix reality show. According to people who investigated her claims, she went to extraordinary lengths to make the story look authentic, wearing scrubs in videos, purchasing medical equipment, driving to Duke’s campus just to film content before driving back home, and even having fake badges made to feature in her videos. Things reportedly began to unravel when an actual student in the program congratulated Murdock online for being part of the PA program. The student reportedly said she had never seen or heard of Murdock being in the program and was blocked within minutes. Then, over the course of the semester, other students reportedly started noticing something strange. None of them had ever seen Murdock, not in class, on campus, or at program events. The biggest twist came later. After going quiet for a while, Murdock posted “graduation” photos in front of Duke Chapel, complete with a cap and master’s hood. People quickly noticed that the colors appeared to be incorrect. That prompted even more digging. According to those investigating her claims, Murdock does not appear to have a NCCPA certification number in North Carolina, where she allegedly claimed to be certified. The entire two-hour Duke hooding and graduation ceremony was also available online, with graduates called in alphabetical order. Her name was never called, and she does not appear to have walked across the stage. After Murdock was exposed, her social media accounts, which had hundreds of thousands of followers, were reportedly deleted.
