Watch this clip. It features Ilhan Omar walking through Columbia University proclaiming that "Jewish students... should not have to tolerate antisemitism... whether they’re pro-genocide or anti-genocide." It is patently false and a blood libel to suggest that ANY Jewish students are "pro-genocide." It is gaslighting to impute that Jewish people are somehow at fault for being harassed and menaced with signs and slogans literally calling for their own extermination. It is abhorrent that a sitting member of Congress would slander an entire group of young people in such a cold, calculated manner. This is how people get killed. Ilhan Omar must apologize, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm exhausted & angry. Angry with a world that allowed the dehumanization of Israelis, sanitized the evil of antizionism & dignified terrorism as ‘resistance.’ As I said on Morning Joe, Hamas is committed to 1 thing: killing Jews. Not a 2SS or a peaceful resolution of conflict, but murdering Jews.

What happened yesterday didn’t happen in a vacuum. West Bloomfield now can be added to the long list of Jewish communities who have experienced the terror and trauma of a synagogue attack. They felt it firsthand. The rest of us are reeling, too. As I shared with Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Jewish people too often are accused of conspiracies or scapegoated for the world's problems. This isn’t new. It’s been happening for centuries. But I'm sick of the hypocrisy we're hearing from politicians to podcasters, candidates and commentators. You don’t get to say you abhor antisemitism and then blame the Jewish people or the Jewish state for the conflict in the Middle East. It’s gaslighting and we're tired of it. Sick and tired of it.

The stories coming out of Israel fill me with anguish that I’ve never known before. I’ve said this before & I said it again on CNN with @katebolduan — Do not call members of Hamas fighters or glorify them as militants. Call them what they are: murderers, terrorists & barbarians.

In one of the many nightmarish pieces of propaganda generated by Hamas, we saw a video of Evyatar. They forced him to dig his own grave. It was beyond horrific And yet now, we see him reunited with his parents, Avishai and Galia David. There's a moment in this video when you can see Avishai exhale. It comes from deep within, as if he's been holding his breath for more than two years. Now he can finally breathe. All of us finally can breathe.

“As history has taught us, antisemitic tropes and stereotypes, some of which I heard personally on this campaign, will ultimately be the undoing of our democracy if we all don’t lean in and speak out, even if it’s not politically expedient.” I agree with Rep. Dan Goldman. Antisemitism has seeped into much of our political rhetoric, and it’s often an early warning sign that our democratic values are under strain. We must call it out immediately, wherever and whenever we see it.
