My deepest condolences to the family of Henry Nowak. I’ve thought about his passing a lot this week. Henry may have passed in Southampton but he lived in Thurrock. He went to the same academy trust as my children. His grieving family are a stones throw away. To my mind, there is no debate on the topic of carrying ceremonial knives. Allowing some people to carry a knife is absurd in the extreme. The fact we have decision makers in our establishments that have allowed this because they are more concerned with cultural sensitivity than basic common sense is infuriating, and here we see the tragic results. Another life lost, senselessly taken in the most unnecessary of circumstances. RIP Henry

If May's elections go ahead in Essex it will be a Reform landslide and Labour know it. There's no World War. There's no Pandemic. There's no support from the Electoral Comission. So I asked the Minister, what checks and balances are in place to make sure the council's attempt to cancel the elections aren't just waived through.
