The field here at Seattle Stadium has been *raised* 14 inches using a wooden platform that currently exists over the turf of EQC Pitch. You can see the difference in the steps here in this NE corner. It has a full drainage system inside the support system that raised the field.

It's an engineering marvel that they RAISED the field by 14 inches with the entire irrigation and drainage system inside the "box" over the old bottom. But the supports inside the box and grass top make it seem like you're not walking on a "box" at all.
