“I would like the right to call my dad, right now.” And I’m sure Samantha Miller would like the right to live. New video released today shows Jamie Komoroski after her arrest in the deadly 2023 Folly Beach crash. On April 28, 2023, Komoroski drove into a golf cart carrying newlyweds leaving their wedding. Samantha Miller was killed at the scene. Her husband Aric Hutchinson and two relatives were seriously injured. Komoroski’s blood alcohol level was 0.261 percent and she was traveling about 65 mph in a 25 mph zone. She later pleaded guilty to felony DUI resulting in death, two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury, and reckless homicide. In December 2024 a judge sentenced her to 25 years in prison. In the newly released arrest video, Komoroski repeatedly asks the officer for the right to call her father and refuses a breathalyzer test.

Cape Coral TikTok mom influencer Marlena Velez keeps finding herself back in handcuffs over the same Target thefts that made her viral. Velez built a following of more than 500,000 on TikTok posting lifestyle content. Her videos centered on “get ready with me” routines, daily mom life with her two kids, fashion, home clips, and soft-life SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) content. In late 2024 she was arrested twice at the same Cape Coral Target within about 10 days. Investigators said she scanned fake barcodes at the self-checkout to ring up household goods and clothing at much lower prices. The first incident involved roughly $500 in items. She posted a TikTok the same day showing herself getting ready in the exact outfit and glasses later seen on store security video, then selecting the merchandise and loading it into her car. An anonymous tip from a follower plus her own posts led police straight to her. Ten days later she was caught doing the same thing at the same store with about $225 more in merchandise. Officers recognized her immediately. In March 2025 she pleaded no contest to two counts of petty theft and received 12 months of probation. That did not end it. On September 29, 2025, an officer spotted her driving and tried to pull her over because of an active warrant tied to probation issues. She fled. On October 12 officers located the same vehicle, saw her in the passenger seat, and found her moments later lying on the floorboard of the back seat trying to hide. She was charged with probation violations and fleeing and eluding. In June 2026 she was arrested yet again after authorities said she repeatedly failed to report to her probation officer, left her approved residence, and stopped logging her daily activities as required. What started as two petty theft cases at one Target has turned into a string of arrests because she kept violating the terms of her probation. I don’t think she can be saved.

Faith in humanity. An absolutely heartbreaking video of an elderly woman who fell into a puddle and was unable to get up was posted on Facebook by Johnnie Owens. The video was recorded by Carter Ryan Patrick ( who goes by Ryan. It shows him stopping to help the woman up. In my opinion, he didn’t just help her. He saved her. She was facedown in a puddle on the hot street. It breaks my heart to see her like that, but that same break is healed by witnessing the kindness Ryan showed her.

First female SWAT officer sets a bad example. On August 18, 2026, around 3:20 a.m., Uniquea Teel was asleep in her Greenville, North Carolina apartment with her 1-year-old when Greenville police knocked. There had been shots fired a few doors down at 3240 Moseley Drive. Teel was not a suspect. They wanted her Ring footage. She told them the camera was dead. Officer Jennifer Umphlet did not like that answer. On Teel’s own doorbell video, Umphlet says, “You pull it up and show me that it’s not working, and I’ll leave you alone. Otherwise, I’m ripping it off the wall, writing a search warrant, and I’m going to keep you up all night.” They went in anyway. An officer tells her she is being detained because she is not cooperating with an investigation. Teel can be heard saying her baby is inside. While she is in handcuffs, she says an officer walked to the bedroom, grabbed her phone, and held it to her face to unlock it. They searched it for Ring video, asked if she had deleted anything, then handed it back and took the cuffs off. One officer later tells her she ended up in handcuffs over nothing. Umphlet was placed on administrative leave. The department opened an internal review after Teel posted the Ring video and filed a complaint.

I’ve been doing it wrong. I feel so embarrassed now that I’ve seen the proper way to launch a boat 😔
