Nobody believes Trump anymore. Not "locked and loaded." Not that diplomacy is "going well." Not the bridge and power plant claims. And the oil market doesn't believe him either. I told you prices would climb back up once those waivers got yanked. They did. The gap between what he says and what's actually happening keeps growing. And the screams (in the form of leaks) are coming from inside the building!

Political violence is wrong—full stop. Left-wing violence is rising, but the data still shows right-wing violence is still more prevalent. When Tom Homan comes out and says that he’s concerned we’re going to have to bury an ICE agent, it feels totally disconnected from reality for most. Americans Alex Pretti and Renee Good are dead. Immigrants Joan Guerrero and Lorenzo Araujo are gone, too. Until there’s accountability for rogue ICE actions, the anger will continue to boil over.

Mocking the Democratic candidates in Maine may feel good now, but reality it’s a very blue environment and Susan Collins is six years older than when she beat Gideon and has been voting with Trump 95% of the time. She gave the go ahead on an extra 70 billion for ICE with no guardrails. Listen to the ex wife of the agent who shot Joan Guerrero - he shouldn’t have been in that job. Maine is confronting the consequences of an agency staffed with untrained, unaccountable officers operating without body cameras. Collins can issue all the carefully worded statements she wants, but her record is clear. In 2026, make her answer for every vote.

I know how much fun the Democratic civil war is to talk about especially on the right. But the real 2026 battle isn't Dem vs. socialist, it's Dem vs. GOP in swing districts, and a new Fox poll has Dems up 53-46 overall and 59-41 in close counties. D+10 on inflation and D+9 on the economy. Trump's only up with white voters, by 1 point. Think about that.

Texas is still red, but running a campaign on James Talarico shares a bank account with his mom, is maybe a vegan, is maybe a little bit gay but also has a hot Latina girlfriend, isn’t really a winning message. Especially when Paxton is so flawed and gave a sweetheart deal to an admitted child molester. Cost of living. Healthcare. That’s what persuadable voters want to hear about.

The political performance art online is so lame. Before criticizing New York, maybe check your own backyard. Texas officials tell residents to set thermostats to 78° and conserve power when the grid is under strain. The state has a long history of grid failures, and when one of the worst hit, Ted Cruz flew to Cancún. If you're going to attack another city's leadership, expect people to bring up your own record.

Pick your poison: ICE is either rogue or dangerously under trained. Neither good. We’ve seen this movie before in Minneapolis. The shootings in Maine and Houston reveal a huge problem for DHS, Tom Homan, and Republicans like Susan Collins who decided to give ICE another $70 billion with no guardrails. They couldn’t even get the right guy? Very little is agreed on in DC except the need for agents to wear cameras and no one was in either shooting. Just shameful.

Republicans can mock the No Kings protests all the want, but the reality is it just grew from 6 million to 8 million people in a few months. 3,300 rallies in all 50 states, many in suburbs and small towns. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress see the writing on the wall. A record 36 are retiring early. Donald Trump is sitting around 40% approval at best, closer to the low 30s by some measures. When a president is under 50%, their party historically loses an average of 34 seats in Congress. Democrats only need a handful of seats. The energy is real and it is growing.

The MAGA victory lap on getting Massie out when they had to spend 35 million and won by 10 in a Trump 35 district seems misguided. Trump has a 34% approval rating. He’s -18 with Independents and Democrats are up 11 for the midterms. Plus, he just endorsed Ken Paxton who is so bad even his own party impeached him. Plus, Trump’s campaign platform boils down to I don’t care about your finances, I’m going to trade stocks and make billions, use your money to pay J6ers, and get immunity from an audit for me and my family in perpetuity. I think Democrats can work with that.

Republicans are lying to the American people when they say the SAVE Act is a voter ID law—it’s a proof-of-citizenship requirement that would make voting harder, if not impossible, for a lot of people. Passports are expensive, documents don’t always match, and the process can be a mess (been there). We should be making voting easier, not adding more hurdles. Democrats can own this by proposing their own bill that accepts a range of IDs, and includes automatic voter registration and Election Day as a national holiday for starters.

There are Democrats who have concerns about Platner, but the idea that we’ll be lectured by folks that support Donald Trump and want Texans to choose Ken Paxton is ludicrous. The man’s wife left him on biblical grounds! Mainers know who Platner is and chose him anyway. They want to win that seat and think Platner is best suited to do it.

The MOU is all carrots, no sticks. And the administration lied all week claiming the leaked versions weren’t the actual deal because they knew it was so terrible. Trump’s only choice is to blame Vance, which he’ll happily do. Ben Shapiro called it a “disaster.” Bill Cassidy called it “the worst foreign policy blunder in decades.” The agreement includes sanctions relief, oil export waivers, the release of frozen assets, and a $300 billion reconstruction commitment, while many of the administration’s original objectives remain unresolved or discarded. It’s bad!

Stop pretending this is about cracking down on fraud when Trump literally let people who stole hundreds of millions in Medicare and Medicaid money walk free. One guy stole $1.3 billion and served 14 months of a 20-year sentence. When a reporter asked the DOJ about it, they refused to answer. That’s the hypocrisy people are angry about. Republicans want to talk tough on fraud while protecting the biggest fraudsters when they’re politically connected. If fraud is wrong, then it should be wrong for everyone.

Democrats are making something clear: if concerns about a candidate are legitimate, they should be addressed. But we are not going to be lectured by the party of Donald Trump, Ken Paxton, or other Republicans who have been accused of things like putting boiling water on their wives during a fight. Dismissing the allegations against Platner is a mistake. But the NYT left the door wide open to the argument that Platner’s ex girlfriend is politically motivated. Heritage Foundation, Independent Women, Ladies for Kavanaugh. Ultimately, what we think in NYC and DC doesn’t matter. Maine voters aren’t terminally online. They like his platform - it may be enough!

Americans are proud of the team bringing home the gold medal. What diminishes that moment is seeing it turned into a political sideshow, with a president joking about whether to invite the women’s team and an FBI director posing with beers as though he earned a spot on the ice, all funded by taxpayers. It takes away from the athletes’ achievement and frankly feels embarrassing.
