Even though she was CMS Board Chair at the time, Stephanie Sneed sought a contract with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office with Raki and Kim McGregor and former CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings. This was in April and it is unclear if anyone on the CMS Board knew about it

As the Mecklenburg County DA asks the SBI to investigate Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the explosive CMS files released by Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill raise many questions for Chair Stephanie Sneed. Why was Raki McGregor getting multiple jobs? Why was he brought back in after Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill did not renew his contract? Did the School Board know about any of this? Were district policies purposely not followed to hide his involvement? My breakdown from tonight:

A simple explanation of the contract controversy with CMS that has Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill asking if Chair Stephanie Sneed circumvented policies to benefit Raki McGregor. A WSOCTV review found Raki and his wife Kim have received more than $1 million directly or indirectly from CMS dating back to the start of the 2024-2025 school year. A wise person once asked, "do you ever feel like a plastic bag?" Plastic bags are used for everything in North Carolina. You can't recycle them curbside. They get tangled in the sorting equipment and require costly repairs. And if you try to recycle them at stores, there's no guarantee they will actually be recycled. Three years ago, I put Apple AirTags in plastic bags that were placed in plastic bag recycling bins to find out if they were going to recycling centers. They weren't. Now, Mecklenburg County is creating its own plastic bag recycling program. You can drop them off at any of the county's recycling centers. The bags then go to Fiberon in Stanly County where they are transformed into deck materials.

Six seconds. That's how long CATS officials say it took Decarlos Brown to kill Iryna Zarutska. CATS confirms my previous reporting that a security officer was not on board at the time of the attack. But CATS says Brown showed no signs he was preparing to take a life. "This individual was sitting down, for all intents and purposes looked like he was just having a normal train ride. There was nothing about his demeanor. He wasn't sweating. He wasn't talking to himself. He wasn't interfacing in a manner that would have triggered attention to him that he was about to do a heinous act. And then all of a sudden, you see his face change. He commits the act and it's in a split second." Here's Part 1 of Hunter Sáenz's report
