Can you believe this? Last year, the Liberal government spent $19 BILLION on consultants. $8 MILLION for gender-just, low-carbon rice in Vietnam $22 MILLION for Beans for Women’s Empowerment in Congo $33 MILLION on a prison farm Now, that same government claims it has no choice but to shut down agricultural research facilities and lay off Canadian scientists and researchers. Billions for consultants. Cuts for Canadian agriculture. Make it make sense.

I was shocked to learn that the CEO of Farm Credit Canada billed Canadian taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel expenses To put that into perspective, that's more than double what three Agriculture Ministers expensed over the same period. The Kielstra farm in Okotoks, paid $180,000 in carbon taxes in 2023 to heat & cool their chicken barns. By 2030, they will pay $480,000 when the carbon tax reaches $170 per tonne. Next week, Canadians will see the carbon tax increase by 23%, making life even more unaffordable.

Mark Carney said by March 1 Canada expects China will lower tariffs on Canadian canola seed to a combined rate of approximately 15%. According to Reuters, Beijing is delaying a decision on reducing tariffs on Canadian canola seed until March 9. So this is not a done deal...

Canadian farmers are paying the price for the Liberals’ failure on trade. China has blocked Canadian beef since 2021 and imposed crushing tariffs on canola, peas, pork, and more. Yet the federal government is handing Beijing a $1 billion taxpayer-funded loan to build BC Ferries It’s time to cancel the billion dollar loan, support our farmers, and pass the common-sense Conservative Canadian Sovereignty Act to protect our economic independence.

This is shocking! We now know the Chief Science Advisor of Canada was not even consulted before the closures of Canada's agricultural research centres and experimental farms were announced. These centres delivered generational crop science, soil research, and livestock innovation that underpins Canada's food security and helped farmers feed Canadians. This government didn't just make the wrong decision; it made it recklessly and without the advice of its own experts.
