Spent some time watching Iowa’s Bennett Stirtz training in Chicago for the upcoming NBA Draft Combine. Clearly in great shape and shoots the cover off the ball. The 6’4” point guard’s smarts, skills, instincts, and steadiness should appeal to NBA teams drafting in the teens.

Spent some time watching St. John’s big man, Zuby Ejiofor, working out during combine week. Repping out his three-point stroke, which has shown signs of improvement. The Big East Player of the Year should draw serious interest from good teams in the back end of the first round.

Yaxel Lendeborg was by far the best player on the floor across both Sweet Sixteen games in Chicago last night. 23 PTS, 12 REB, 7 AST, 2 STL on an 83.6 TS% while finishing +20 in a win over Alabama. The 1st Team All-American does a little bit of everything at a high level on both ends, with few holes in his game. The off-the-dribble threes, point-forward playmaking, long outlet passes, and power/patience as a finisher really stood out tonight. On a late development curve, so still clearly getting much better at 23 years old.

Lincoln Memorial’s Elyjah Freeman has quickly established himself as the most intriguing prospect at the Division II level. The late-blooming 18-year-old freshman wing is averaging 18.6 PTS, 8.7 REB, 2.1 AST, 1.4 STL on blistering efficiency w/ very high-end athletic flashes. High-major talent w/ plenty of developmental runway who warrants long-term tracking by NBA scouts.

Hard to overstate Yaxel Lendeborg’s impact in an absolute shellacking of Tennessee. 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 0 turnovers in a 30+ point Elite Eight win. Imposes his will on both ends while playing within his means, bringing competitive fire, and bypassing good shots to create great ones. Incredible feel and IQ for a powerful 6’10” prospect who’s so late to the game. Chance to make history in Indianapolis.

Omaha’s Frankie Fidler will put his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal, I’m told. The 6’7” do-it-all guard avg’d 20.1 PTS, 6.3 REB, 2.6 AST w/ a 59.5 TS%. Top ten in the nation in offensive win shares + free throws made. Among the most productive players hitting the portal.

Tampa’s Ryan Blount is entering the transfer portal, he tells DraftExpress. The 6’7” sophomore guard averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 41% on 6.7 threes per game this season. Projects as one of the top D2 to D1 transfer-up targets of this portal cycle.

San Francisco’s Tyrone Riley IV will enter the transfer portal, his advisor Paolo Zamorano of Prodigy Sports tells me. Rangy, athletic 6’6” lefty wing who’s drawn the attention of NBA scouts. The All-WCC Freshman Team selection looks poised for a high-major jump.

Santa Clara’s Christoph Tilly will enter the transfer portal, his agent Milan Nikolić tells me. The 7’0” German center finished 2nd Team All-WCC, increasing his production and efficiency across the board. Budding perimeter game with a keen sense for facilitating to cutters.

Coen Carr’s two-way dynamism was on full display in a win over Louisville. 21 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal to help lift Sparty to the Sweet 16. Made great use of his nuclear athleticism as a backline lob threat, defensive rebounder, and on the break. Showed fight and discipline keeping drivers in front, staying home on fakes, then being quick off his feet for contests/blocks. Even knocked down a couple of confident corner threes, addressing an area for improvement on a big stage.

Brayden Burries’ timely scoring (21 points on 10 shots) against Houston in the Big 12 Tournament championship game helped Arizona take home the hardware. The strong-bodied 6’5” freshman guard knows how and when to attack defensive vulnerabilities. Burries' patience, shotmaking prowess, and ability to play through contact have been invaluable to the Wildcats’ offense, perfectly complementing veteran backcourt mate, Jaden Bradley. Projected top ten pick who could really solidify his standing with a strong March Madness run on a team with championship aspirations.

Nearly three years after his initial NCAA commitment, Demir is finally making his way stateside and bringing his talent to college basketball. Forms an intriguing inside/outside twin towers platoon alongside All-Big Ten stretch big man, Nate Bittle. Huge late get for the Ducks.

Bradley’s Almar Atlason will enter the transfer portal, his advisors at Wasserman tell me. The high-feel 6’8” Icelandic stretch big started 30 games for the Braves over the past two seasons, shooting ~40% from deep on 3+ attempts per game. Former MVC All-Freshman selection.

Keaton Wagler outdueled Bennett Stirtz to will Illinois to their first Final Four since 2005. Dropped a game-high 25 points with bevy of downhill spin moves, showing improved physicality bumping off defenders and maintaining balance for coordinated soft-touch finishes. Even threw in a nasty Penny Hardaway-esque counter, sending his defender flying into the baseline and creating a ridiculous amount of space for a step back three. One of the best stories in college basketball, ascending from unheralded recruit to the clear top dog on a Final Four title contender. Potential top five pick.

North Texas forward, Brenen Lorient, will enter the transfer portal and test the 2025 NBA Draft waters, I’m told. Ridiculous athlete at 6’9” with crazy vertical pop as a rim-finisher and shot blocker. Expected to follow Ross Hodge to WVU if he withdraws from the draft.

Arizona’s Tobe Awaka has thrived in his role off the bench for the 24-2 Wildcats this season. A walking near-double-double, Awaka is a relentless force on the offensive glass, leading the NCAA in OREB% (min 15 MPG). Unsung glue guy who does the dirty work that drives winning.

NAIA Player of the Year, Mason Walters, will use his 5th year of eligibility to transfer to the DI level. 26.6 PTS, 9.4 REB, 3.1 AST, 1.9 BLK, 71.2 TS% this season for his hometown Jamestown Jimmies. Won’t technically hit the almighty portal, but will be very highly coveted.

Former Missouri + Missouri State guard, Isiaih Mosley, has entered his name into the 2023-24 NBA G League Draft pool. Dynamic off-the-dribble sniper w/ a career 39.7 3P% on a high volume of creative, deep stepback attempts. Mosley also remains eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft.
