My phone started blowing up! Athletes, coaches, business leaders sending me pictures from the Pat McAfee on espn saying Pat and Grandpa Paul are talking about me right now. What!? How!? I didn’t watch the segment until later that night. Turns out they were wondering what’s it like to coach the coaches and who’s the guy that does it. I’m not going to lie. It was cool that they were sharing what I’ve been doing for 20 years, mostly behind the scenes, helping public leaders with meaningful private conversations. I can’t share what is said during those meetings but I can share the methodology and process behind them. Pat said he wants to get me on the show and I would definitely join him to share how it all works!

What do you do when you walk into a church in Bethlehem? Stephen McWhirter you sing O Holy Night so powerfully that everyone in the room is so filled with emotion they begin to cry. My daughter Jade Gordon was in the church with this group, took this video and said it was one of the most amazing moments of her life. Merry Christmas!

The No Complaining Rule. You're not allowed to complain unless you bring a solution. So don’t complain just to vent. It doesn’t help anyone. Instead… Bring a solution. Bring an idea. Bring a better way forward. The most valuable people in any room aren't the ones who point out what's broken. They're the ones who help build the future. Less complaining. More creating.

My favorite advice is to talk to yourself instead of listen to yourself. Don’t listen to the negative thoughts telling you that you can’t accomplish your goal. Instead, tell yourself what to do, what you will accomplish and what you will become. Fuel your journey with positivity and watch your success unfold. 💪

Have you ever noticed that overthinking is always associated with negative thoughts? We never say “I have too much gratitude, too much encouragement, too much hope. I just have too much belief in myself today”. It’s always on the negative side. But the minute you focus on love, love unites and it creates connection, clarity, confidence and courage. It’s a great tool for both athletes and leaders just to focus on loving playing, loving the competition, loving the moment, loving the battle. Not worried about the outcome. That helps you overcome all the fear and negativity coming your way and when you live it, and you allow it to live through you, you become a powerful force in the universe. This was from a recent talk to the PGA of America.

Years ago, my wife almost left me because I was negative, miserable, and not grateful for anything. I thought I deserved things and was angry when I wasn’t getting them. It wasn’t until I started taking my gratitude walks that I started to become grateful. The research shows you can’t be stressed and thankful at the same time. If you’re feeling blessed, you won’t be stressed. These walks rewired my brain from negative to positive and opened my heart. 20 years later, I still take my ‘thank you walks’ daily. I’m grateful for the journey, I’m thankful for YOU and I’m thankful for the Creator who gives me everything I need. I’m grateful for you. Thank you for reading and watching what I share.
