This Week of Mourning honors not only the victims of Gatumba, but all Banyamulenge lives lost to genocidal violence and persecution - including those killed in Bibogobogo, Ngandja, Uvira, Kamina, Kinshasa, Kalemie, Bukavu, and other places where innocent civilians were targeted because of their identity. Our remembrance is collective. Our mourning is shared. Our commitment to justice is unwavering. The Week of Mourning will culminate in the 22nd Gatumba Genocide Commemoration in Columbus, Ohio, where our community will gather to honor the victims, hear survivor testimonies, pray together, and reaffirm our responsibility to preserve their memory and pursue justice.
