🕊️ PEDESTRIAN KILLED AFTER VEHICLE LEAVES ROADWAY IN SOUTHEAST D.C. 🕊️ WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man who was waiting at a bus stop was tragically killed Tuesday evening after a vehicle left the roadway during a crash in Southeast Washington. At approximately 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Sixth District officers responded to Suitland Road and Southern Avenue SE for the report of a serious crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that one of the vehicles involved struck a curb at the traffic signal before leaving the roadway and striking the victim, who was waiting at a nearby bus stop. The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the above location and located a teen boy suffering from a gunshot wound. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during an altercation, which was captured on video. During the altercation, the teen was shot, though investigators have not yet confirmed whether the injury was self-inflicted or caused by another individual. The teen was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released. Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been announced at this time.

CHILD FOUND IN ANACOSTIA RIVER HAS DIED; PASSERBY PULLED CHILD FROM WATER WASHINGTON, D.C. — A tragic update in the incident along the Anacostia River: the young child found unconscious in the water has now died. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of Anacostia Drive, where a passerby spotted the child in the river and pulled the child from the water before first responders arrived. The child, was found unconscious and in critical condition. 🚨 The juvenile was transported via MEDEVAC to a local hospital, where despite life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced dead. Bystanders say the child’s mother was nearby searching, reportedly checking bathrooms and surrounding areas before the child was located in the water.

Marine Veteran Fights Off Armed Carjacking Attempt in Oxon Hill; Four Teens Arrested OXON HILL, MD — A Marine Corps veteran fought off a group of armed teens who attempted to carjack him in broad daylight this week in Oxon Hill. According to the victim, Jheyco Borda was working on his truck outside his home around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday when four hooded teens approached him and attempted to take his vehicle at gunpoint. Surveillance video captured the confrontation, showing Borda refusing to surrender and physically resisting the suspects during the attempted carjacking. The suspects ultimately fled the scene without taking the vehicle. Following an investigation, authorities arrested all four suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Borda later shared the video online and urged residents to remain vigilant. “Be careful and be aware of your surroundings,” he wrote. The investigation remains ongoing.

TRIPLE SHOOTING IN SOUTHEAST D.C. LEAVES ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED; HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY WASHINGTON, D.C. — A triple shooting in Southeast D.C. has left one man dead and two others injured, prompting an active homicide investigation. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Morris Road SE, where MPD units and federal agents responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located three adult victims suffering from gunshot-related injuries. An adult male was found unconscious and not breathing and was pronounced dead on the scene. Two additional victims — an adult male and an adult female — were located conscious and breathing and received medical attention. MPD’s Homicide Unit has been notified and is leading the investigation. At this time, no suspect information has been released, and investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. UPDATE: The suspect was taken to an area hospital after the Arlington police officer administered Narcan. Also multiple patients were transported including the officer. We are on scene where the crash ended after the individual wrecked his truck before jacking another vehicle and the ambulance.
