Cromwell was also the one who first most truly unified England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. A great man to be emulated, and looked to in many regards, who led the New Model Army to victory, and Charles I did deserve what he got. Meanwhile, John Brown was just an insane murderer who led one of the most hilariously poorly planned operations that relied on the slaves all rising up, and even though thousands could’ve joined him, he got a grand total of 2, and then was rightfully crushed by Robert E. Lee and JEB Stuart. There’s a reason why John Brown pretty much exclusively resonates with insane leftists. However, most of those who still speak of Cromwell? They’re right wing nationalists. There’s no need to trash him, when he’s a great man who can be used and resonated with.
