James Talarico responds to AOC calling woke 1.0 crazy, policing people's language is performative politics, and it stops you from building a coalition “I do think that there was a rise in performative politics in people who are more concerned about using the right words, usually determined by academia” “Those are unifying values that we all agree on.” “But when you start policing people's language, when you start judging people because they're not up on the right terminology, you're no longer building a coalition to address those real problems” “you're performing a kind of politics that's about your own intellectual and emotional needs and not about actually making change.” w/ James Talarico

James Talarico says America doesn't have capitalism anymore, it has crony capitalism, socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor “Capitalism was an innovation. I think we forget that now.” “We don't have capitalism, at least not in this country. We have crony capitalism.” “Where the gains in this economy go to those who can afford to buy access, who can afford to buy politicians for control.” “He said, we have socialism for the rich, and we have rugged individualism for the poor.” w/ James Talarico

40% of Americans can't cover a $400 emergency bill, Mark Cuban's fix is one AI prompt you run before anything happens “40% of people in the country can't afford a $400 emergency bill. And so what I always tell people is before anything happens, go into your favorite AI model and say, get me a list of all the nonprofit hospitals” “Go to them and ask them what their financial support services are because all nonprofit hospitals have to have financial assistance programs. And some of them are really good” “Those financial assistance plans are created, and the pricing is a reference price to the federal poverty levels in most cases, but it can go up to 600% of federal poverty level, which can be over $100,000 for some families in some states” w/ Mark Cuban

Ansem thinks Zcash could be setting up for the kind of move he witnessed with Bitcoin in 2017 "I really do think a 2017 style cycle is possible, especially with the way Zcash is trading" "I joined in 2017 and I saw Bitcoin go from like 3K to 20K" "I really think something similar can happen with Zcash" He is comparing the current $ZEC momentum with the market environment he experienced during his first crypto cycle. Bitcoin went from roughly $1K to nearly $20K in 2017. $ZEC has now gained more than 2,300% over the past year, recently pushing to a new ATH. His thesis is that the magnitude of the move may still have room to expand if Zcash 🛡️ continues attracting capital and attention at this pace. Zcash is starting to feel like a 2017 style trade.

Ansem dropped $50K into $ZZZ after tracing it back to GMX’s original lead dev, now building toward autonomous AI protocols on Robinhood Chain “I did drop that into $ZZZ, X dev is like one of the core devs behind GMX, so GMX was a decentralized perps protocol that went to multi-billions, before Hyperliquid there was GMX, that’s essentially the best way I can put it” “The core dev behind GMX is the one behind the $ZZZ project on Robinhood, I’m honestly not exactly sure what it is yet, I bought it because I know it was linked to him and he’s ran projects to multi-billions before” “I think it’s like an AI swarm type of thing, some autonomous protocol that he’s building, and he’s changed his X profile to Exponent Labs” w/ Ansem 🐂🀄️

Ansem explains why he stepped back from active trading in 2025 after learning a costly lesson from giving back profits in 2022 “In 2025, I unplugged a lot. I made money on HYPE, I made money on Trump, and I closed a lot of positions afterwards” “In 2022, I had made a lot of money, sold pretty close to the top, except for Jewel, DFK, but I kept trading” “I ended up giving a lot of money back in 2022 because I was trading in a market that I shouldn't have been as active in” “I hit a lot, I just did really well, I'm on track, and I have some good profit. I'm gonna take a step back” “It was definitely very beneficial for me, mentally and also for my portfolio” “The good thing about being a trader is you make your own hours. You can trade when you want to, especially if you're doing well. You got to use that to your advantage” w/ Ansem 🐂🀄️

Santiago invested in Backpack 🎒 at around a $100M valuation and believes it has a clear path to 10x from here “I invested in the round, a couple hundred, a hundred million” “You have Kraken and the secondary market trading at $20 billion. You have Coinbase, Robinhood. Coinbase is a $65 billion protocol” “I don’t see a reason why they, if they continue to execute, couldn’t get there” “What do you want to see? At least a 10x. I see a very clean way to do that, even with our current portfolio” “If they continue to execute, I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t surpass some of the other exchanges” w/ Santiago R Santos

Banks asks Ansem 🐂🀄️ how he'd turn $1,000 into $1 million in crypto, and Ansem reveals he started trading with just $100 “If you had to restart and make a million dollars in crypto, what would you do exactly?” “That's the realistic starting point for a lot of people. It's a few hundred bucks, $1,000. That's the dream, right? 500 bucks and a fucking dream” “When I first started trading, I had like a hundred dollars, literally a hundred dollars” “You funded this whole Ansem arc with a hundred dollars? With one blue? That's insane, dude”

Ansem pushes back against the criticism of Pumpfun as an extractive business, pointing to its loyal user base and ability to generate revenue even during bear markets “Their everyday users are not complaining. That's why they were able to make a million dollars a day, even during the bear market, because they have this core user group that continues to come back” “Every business that is successful in crypto, when they have revenue, people call it extraction. I don't really know how Pump has gotten so much of the heat for this. You could say the same thing about Axiom, Raydium, Coinbase, everything” “The reason they're able to have revenue is because user behavior enables that. If what they were doing in the market was not working, they would not be making any money. Every other launchpad outside of Pump has not been able to unseat them” w/ Ansem 🐂🀄️

Mayne shares how he prepares for major market corrections by marking weekly demand zones and setting buy orders or alerts before prices start crashing “We get a major correction, like, the first thing that I do is I go across all the charts that I like, and I just say, where's weekly demand? Like, where's the weekly retest?” “That's kind of where you want to set your stink bids, or at least alerts, because what happens generally is if we do get some sort of correction, and the market starts to nuke, when it's nuking, it's very hard to act” “Because you're like, oh, where's support? When's it going to drop?” “But if you do this before the nuke and you actually say, okay, here's levels where I should be interested in, it'll help you actually take action once the move occurs” w/ Mayne

Kyle Samani is building a new startup on Solana after concluding that his biggest contribution to the ecosystem will now come from operating a company rather than investing in one “I'm building a new startup on Solana. I can't talk about it too much” “I feel fortunate I was there early Solana and not just Solana Core, but all the important ecosystem teams around Solana. Jito and Kamino and MarginFi” “That job is done as a venture capitalist. These guys needed to get off the ground. They needed money. They needed support. They needed strategic help” “As a VC, I'm no longer substantially moving the needle on making Solana become the global permissionless financial layer to power global finance” “I think I can actually do that in an operating role now much more than I can as a VC. So that's my new startup” w/ Kyle Samani

Arthur Hayes questions where the real money in tokenization comes from, arguing that moving traditional assets onchain still leaves a major unanswered question about profitability “How much money are you actually going to make” “I transferred the stock that was sitting in DTCC, and now it's sitting on some blockchain, whatever it is, doesn't really matter” “How much money can you actually make doing that” “You're doing better bookkeeping. Thank you. But where are you actually going to make money in tokenization” “I think that has been the issue with this narrative for a long time” “If the standard bearer of contrarian thinking for Wall Street Muppets says it's time to buy some tokens, then you buy the fucking tokens” w/ Arthur Hayes

Mayne reveals his two-timeframe rule for every trade, using higher timeframes to identify key price levels and lower timeframes to find precise entries and stop losses “When you understand that these patterns are the same across all time frames, really the magic, at least for me, comes when you combine two time frames together” “I have a two time frame rule for all trades that I take. I don't take any trade off of a singular time frame. It's always two” “The higher time frame, whatever it is, it could be the monthly and weekly, it could be the four hour if you're a lower time frame trader, that's where you're looking for your levels, your demand, your area where you think price is going to get a reaction” “Once price gets to that zone, that's when you scale down to the low time frame and you look for that fractal to play based on what you think is going to happen” “When you start to get good at that pattern recognition, it helps you turn what a lot of people believe is noise on the low time frame into exactly how I get into my setup, why I know where the entry is, and why I know where the stop loss is” w/ Mayne

Se thinks almost every market eventually comes down to one thing: attention “In a lot of ways, I’m trading attention” “Are the right people and the people who are actually moving money in size in this market looking at things like this? Probably not” “Everything is trading attention, whether it’s on a micro or macro scale” se uses his HOOD trade to explain the thesis. His edge came from watching Robinhood’s onchain activity and thinking about how its new chain could develop into another meaningful revenue stream before larger pools of capital were focused on it. Crypto traders already live inside onchain data, flows and narratives, giving them a different lens when those signals begin crossing into equities. Then attention caught up. HOOD ripped roughly 17% in a day. Find where the data is moving before the capital starts looking there.

Bitcoin could revisit $65K and ETH could fall below $2K, but Mayne still sees a major pullback as a potential buying opportunity if the market forms a higher low “Bitcoin is still holding on, but a lot of these altcoins, things like ETH, they have broken what I would argue is kind of their daily structure. That's pretty widespread across a lot of these crypto markets” “I've got a pretty big level around 7620 on ES. If we lose that on the three-day or the weekly, that's a structure break. And NQ has a similar level at 28,820” “I could totally see Bitcoin trade back into like 65, sub 70, for sure. I could see ETH go sub 2K. That's not even that far from where we are now” “I do think that those are opportunities to bid. If you zoom out on all these charts, a big pullback is ideally a higher low. Bitcoin's higher low being at 70, I think, is a great opportunity to buy” “We've had three bearish weeks in a row, so I think this weekly candle needs to kind of put in a swing low. Otherwise, pretty good odds I think we see at least sub 75K” w/ Mayne

Ansem puts Zcash 🛡️ in the same category as some of crypto's biggest historical re-ratings, with $100B+ as the territory he believes $ZEC can attack “Zcash is in a very similar spot where I think it can accelerate pretty aggressively into that $100B+ territory” “The best trades in crypto have always been the re-rating of these select few assets that are able to get close to that $100B mark” “You saw it with ETH after Bitcoin, you saw it with Solana after Bitcoin” “I think the Zcash thesis is just super clean for people to understand, makes a ton of sense for retail and institutions” w/ Ansem 🐂🀄️

NEAR is quietly turning chain abstraction into real infrastructure Illia (root.near) (🇺🇦, ⋈) explains a flow where users simply choose the asset they want, while competing solvers handle the execution across chains. NEAR Protocol sits underneath that experience with Intents + Chain Signatures, coordinating settlement across ecosystems like Bitcoin, Solana and Zcash. 35 chains and $29B+ in volume later, the multi-chain thesis is already moving at scale.

Mert says Zcash gave NEAR momentum, but NEAR may have helped unlock Zcash first “You have to look at what outperforms the general market, which Zcash and NEAR have done” “If you just say it's encrypted Bitcoin, that's pretty much all you need” “It's questionable that Zcash would have went up as much if it weren't for NEAR in the first place” mert thesis is a two-way flywheel. Zcash brings a simple monetary + privacy narrative. NEAR Intents gives $ZEC more utility by connecting it to wallets, swaps and liquidity across other chains. More access creates more ways to use $ZEC beyond simply holding it on an exchange, while Zcash activity feeds back into the $NEAR ecosystem. Zcash 🛡️ brings the asset. NEAR Protocol expands where it can move and what it can do.

![[Some of the loudest critics may have already left the market] Ansem thinks a lot of the constant negativity on CT could come from people who lost money and eventually exited the market. “They don’t have tokens anymore.” “Everything is now a scam.” “I’m just going to put my negative input into CT.” They still keep their anonymous accounts active, but without positions or capital at risk, their relationship with crypto changes.
