At Downing Street last night, I was pleased to have the opportunity to say thank you to Keir Starmer and his team for his and their service to our country and The Labour Party. A lot has been achieved in his period in office and he has restored the values of decency and integrity to public life. He leaves Britain in a stronger position than he found it, and Labour as a serious party of government again. I was particularly struck by his determination to do everything he can to constructively support his successor. Country first and with enormous good grace to boot. Thank you.

I’ve been to Downing Street on multiple occasions in the past few weeks. I am struck by how much warm feeling there is towards Keir Starmer as he prepares to leave office. This is a Prime Minister who will be remembered as someone who restored stability to the UK and made our international allies feel they could rely on Britain once again. For that, we owe him a great deal of gratitude. 🇬🇧

We, the The Labour Party Party, promised the British people we wouldn’t do this. Millions voted for Keir Starmer and gave him a huge majority to put an end to the chopping and changing of Prime Ministers. The British public still haven’t forgiven the Tories for their leadership chaos. We must remember that.

Look at the numbers. After years of Tory mismanagement we are seeing The Labour Party get a grip on illegal immigration. Net migration is down 82% from the peak under the Tories and 67,000 people with no right to be here have been removed. Andy Burnham knows this is a critical issue to lots of voters and that’s why he kept Shabana Mahmood MP in post at the Home Office. Reform and the Tories talk a good game - but Labour are the only ones delivering.

I joined Good Morning Britain this morning to say thank you to Keir Starmer. His policies to reduce hotel use for asylum seekers has led to more than £1 billion in savings. It’s been slow and unglamorous work, but it meets the commitments made in the The Labour Party manifesto. Unlike Reform, Labour have shown they can deliver a fair immigration policy with compassion and tolerance and I, for one, am very grateful to the PM for meeting his promises to the public in 2024.

Millions of people, like me, have been waiting 14 long years for a The Labour Party government. Keir Starmer won a landslide less than two years ago and yet it appears some MPs want to throw all of that away. If we did that, opposition parties would think we are total fools - and worst of all, they’d have a point.

I was in Makerfield on a couple of occasions. I’m delighted Andy Burnham won the by-election and he will be a great MP and voice for Labour. Outside of Westminster, everyone I speak to cannot get their head around the idea of changing Prime Ministers now - especially after the Tory leadership chaos they voted for Keir Starmer and The Labour Party to draw a line under. It’s time to unite and get on with governing the country. 🇬🇧

The truth is that before the Iran war, the British economy was moving in the right direction under Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer’s stewardship. Growth was up and the cost of living was improving. It was great to see the Chancellor last week in McDonald’s gear, highlighting the VAT reductions for kids' meals and family attractions over the summer. This is what a The Labour Party government is all about - supporting hospitality businesses and easing the cost of living for families. Bravo 👏

🏴 Back in Downing Street tonight to celebrate Keir Starmer’s time in office. Our PM is a genuine and lifelong football fan who loves our country. It would be a fitting end to his time in office to be in New York/New Jersey to witness Harry Kane and England lift the World Cup trophy. C’mon England!

As we clearly approach a new era, Keir Starmer will go down as a history-making The Labour Party Prime Minister who when push came to shove - put his country first. Only five Labour leaders have won a General Election. An election-winning leader is a rare commodity in the Labour movement. Every one of us attached to the party should have huge gratitude to him and his family for making us electable once again after 14 years in the wilderness.

As so many The Labour Party MPs have recognised over the years, Tory-style leadership chaos has been a disaster for our country. We cannot go down that road again. It’s time to unite behind Keir Starmer and let him lead the change the country voted for him to deliver.

Last night on GB News, Reform UK’s Zia Yusuf tried to claim The Labour Party and Keir Starmer were making mistakes on foreign policy. Yet, I probed him four times to answer why his leader, Nigel Farage, wanted to drag us into the war with Iran. He couldn’t answer a single time. Reform UK’s flip-flopping proves they have no serious plan for governing. It’s a stark contrast to our Prime Minister, who is prioritising Britain’s national interest at all times.

The reason why so many in The Labour Party are angry at Mandelson is because he’s distracting from the positive story Keir Starmer and this government have to tell: 🧑🧒🧒 Thousands of kids lifted out of poverty, driven by Pat McFadden 📉 Interest rates coming down thanks to Rachel Reeves’s stewardship 🏥 NHS waiting times falling under Wes Streeting 🛑 Illegal immigration being tackled by Shabana Mahmood MP All while Reform admit they aren’t ready to govern and the Tories are out of ideas. That’s the story we want to be telling to the country.

What we’ve seen from Keir Starmer is swift, decisive leadership, something he’s shown consistently throughout his time as The Labour Party leader. This is about handling issues in a fundamentally better way than the previous government, and it goes to the heart of the Prime Minister’s key strength: decency. Great to join Iain Dale 🏴🇬🇧 ⚒️ on LBC tonight 👇

It has been telling to hear what international leaders have been saying about Keir Starmer in recent days. From the NATO Secretary General to Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський, they have recognised what Keir has done to restore Britain’s reputation on the international stage. Keir Starmer will leave office with Britain’s defences in a strong position - spending 2.7% of GDP by 27/28, which will be the highest proportion of national income spent on defence since the 1990s. That is a legacy to be proud of 🇬🇧

Appointing Gordon Brown to work with Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer is a positive move by the PM - it shows he is listening after a tough set of election results for The Labour Party. We’re not even halfway through this Parliament yet. My message to Labour MPs is simple: accept the results with humility and get behind this PM and his team to deliver the change the country voted for him to deliver. LabourCentralSuffolkNorthIpswich

All The Labour Party representatives must, at every opportunity, remind the British public where Labour are getting it right. Keir Starmer is not perfect - he’s made mistakes, of course. But compare that to the 14 years of chaos under the Tories. We’re so much better than that and voters expect better of us.

In the release of these files, we have seen unprecedented transparency from Keir Starmer and this The Labour Party government. It is a stark contrast to what happened under the previous administration and speaks to the values and decency of our Prime Minister. I spoke to Nick Ferrari on LBC earlier this morning.👇

😎 Last week, Zia Yusuf paraded around the beach with his sunglasses on declaring that Reform UK would locate migrant detention camps in areas that didn’t vote for them. They’re just not a serious party. Compare that with The Labour Party and Keir Starmer who are tackling illegal immigration with proper policies that are actually working. It is undemocratic and un-British to punish people simply because they didn’t vote for you.
