📩 Update on NCERT Controversy RTI Exposes Bigger Issue An RTI filed by NSUI leader Vikrant Singh Parihar (Madhya Pradesh) has confirmed what many suspected: NCERT used a historically inaccurate Maratha Empire map in Class 8 textbooks and even admitted the map wasn’t based on any expert committee or documented historical sources. After the RTI reply went public, NCERT has now removed the map nationwide. This is not a small correction. This is proof of a larger structural problem: 👉 unreviewed historical content 👉 undocumented maps 👉 quiet erasure or distortion of regional histories, including Rajput, Maratha and others. 🧩 This is exactly why factual public pressure matters. When backed with evidence, citations, and structured feedback, institutions do respond.
