কলকাতা ট্রাফিক পুলিশের পথনিরাপত্তা সপ্তাহ ২০২৬ এর আজ ষষ্ঠ দিন (০৮.০৮. ২০২৬), যার মূল স্লোগান হলো - 'নিরাপদ রাস্তা, নিরাপদ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ'। এই উপলক্ষ্যে আজ সকাল ৬টায় ভিক্টোরিয়া মেমোরিয়ালের নর্থ গেট থেকে মহানগরীর বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাস্তা ঘুরে কলকাতা রেঞ্জর্স ক্লাব পর্যন্ত একটি বর্ণাঢ্য সাইকেল ৱ্যালি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এই সাইকেল ৱ্যালিতে অংশগ্রহণ করেন স্বয়ং কলকাতা পুলিশের নগরপাল শ্রী অজয় নন্দ, আইপিএস মহাশয়। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন কলকাতা পুলিশের উচ্চপদস্থ আধিকারিকগণ। এখানে রইলো তারই কিছু ঝলক:

Kudos to Inspector Prosenjit! A major fire hazard was averted near St. Thomas’ School, Kidderpore, on Feb 24th, thanks to the sheer bravery of Inspector Prosenjit Chatterjee, OC Vidyasagar Setu Traffic Guard. While managing traffic, he noticed an electric pole engulfed in flames. Realizing the danger to the crowded locality, he didn’t wait for the fire tender. Instead, he parked his vehicle right under the pole, climbed onto the roof, and used a fire extinguisher to douse the blaze at great personal risk. His swift action and grit have earned him heartfelt gratitude from the locals. We salute our colleague for going well beyond the call of duty!

It is clarified that outside the Kasba DI Office, an unruly mob launched an unprovoked and violent attack on police personnel, including women police. Four male and two female police personnel sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment. Police were compelled to use mild force to disperse the mob and prevent further injuries and damage to property. River Traffic police responded with remarkable promptness and professionalism and their swift actions ensured the woman was safely rescued. A lot of misinformation is being circulated from certain quarters regarding action taken by police over an incident of violation of traffic rules. It's apparently clear from the CCTV footage that the truck in question was being driven in dangerous manner violating the traffic lane. The other vehicle narrowly escaped a collision thanks to the alertness of its driver. Its a case of violation of traffic rules & legal action is being initiated as per law against the driver of the offending vehicle. Today, an elderly lady travelling in a bus forgot her bag having valuables & documents. She immediately reported the matter to on duty personnel of #SealdahTrafficGuard. Using info from the ticket, they successfully intercepted that bus and returned the lost bag to her.
