What if the west isn't the villain they told you it was? We’ve spent years accepting accusations about racism, intolerance, and slavery without challenging the bigger historical reality: The societies most condemned today are also the ones that led the world in ending slavery, expanding rights, and building the most tolerant nations on earth. That’s the conversation nobody wants to have.

Calling everyone you disagree with “far right” has destroyed the meaning of the term. I’m sick of seeing serious labels abused to smear ordinary people with legitimate concerns. In 2015, before Brexit, over 50% of the country was concerned about immigration. Does that make half the country “far right”? Throwing these labels around is reckless, dishonest, and damaging to public debate.

Strong allies are an asset. Since when did that become controversial? America should put America first. Europe should put Europe first. But the idea that America benefits from a weak, dependent, culturally insecure Europe is absurd. A strong Europe isn't just one that spends more on military defence. It's one that defends free speech, secures its borders, has the confidence to preserve the values that made the West worth defending in the first place, and doesn’t sabotage its own future with unrealistic net zero policies that hollow out its industry while competitors race ahead. There's no point being offended when Americans criticise us: when they're wrong, they're wrong and should be ignored and when they're right, they're right and we should change course accordingly.

The world is not a safe space. The liberal world order didn’t survive because everyone agreed with it. It survived because the West was strong enough to defend it. Meanwhile, the Europeans are busy debating whether free speech is too offensive while China, Russia and the rest of the world are playing for power. Weakness is not a virtue. It’s an invitation.

Understanding history means confronting uncomfortable truths, not rewriting them.

You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. One of the biggest mistakes we’ve made in the West is treating immigration as a question of virtue instead of a question of governance. Of course our country can help people fleeing genuine persecution. But not against the wishes of its citizens! That isn’t extremism. It’s reality.

Every civilisation in history accepted slavery as normal. That's a fact. The British Empire was no different. What made it very different is that it then decided to abolish slavery and push others to follow, at great human, financial and political cost. So here’s the question: If one day we decide eating animals is morally equivalent to slavery, wouldn't we celebrate the first society to stop the practice instead of condemning that society as "evil"?

Victimhood has become a moral currency. We’ve built a culture that ranks people by oppression, then mistakes that ranking for understanding. But people aren’t categories. They’re individuals. And once you lose that, you stop seeing what actually drives success and better outcomes in the real world and instead promote mediocrity and grievance-mongering.

The world after Western dominance won’t be neutral. It will belong to someone else. The “multipolar world” is being sold as the end of Western hypocrisy and the solution to the failures of the current order. But power never disappears, it shifts. And an unstable multipolar world will eventually produce a new dominant civilisation, with its own values imposed on everyone else. The real question is: are those values better than ours? I don't think so.

Multiculturalism has failed. Even the politicians who pursued it now admit it. That's because diversity is not a strength, unity is. The solution to the failure of multiculturalism is monoculturalism, where all citizens subscribe to a shared national identity which is more important than their individual differences.

The faster you learn this lesson Jordan Peterson taught me, the better your life gets. Your reputation is your real wealth. Doing things that are hard or scary isn’t about being morally superior. It’s about understanding the cost of avoiding them. Like karma in a video game, your actions compound and shape how life responds to you. And the most reliable store of success is still the regard other people have for you. The fastest way to build that is to genuinely do things that help others.

Utopia is not the standard. Reality is. Every civilisation has sins if you judge it by today’s moral standards. You can build an entire career doing nothing but listing them. That is easy. The harder question and the only one that matters is this: compared to actual, existing alternatives, who has done better? I am not claiming the West is perfect. It is not. No society is. But if you are honest about measurable progress on rights, equality, and self-correction, it is still ahead of every other major system in the world today. So stop asking "is it perfect?" That is a childish question. Ask: "compared to what?"
