Lewis Hamilton interview after sprint qualifying in Singapore Interviewer: Hey Lewis, that first sector looked lightning quick. That lap on the outside looked great. I know it wasn't the lap time that you wanted, so just talk me through where you think it kind of went away as that lap went out. Lewis: Yeah, I was struggling. It was looking good in Q1 and Q2, and then... I don't really know where it went away. We did a slightly different run plan to the others. It was my choice and I think we got that wrong, and.. but ultimately, the car was very oversteery on that lap. I don't know if the rears were not ready or if they were overheating. It was difficult to say, but it was very, very snappy oversteer and it just wasn't a good lap overall Interviewer:Because on the mediums, you looked really comfortable, didn't you? Well, at least it looked like that was the case. Lewis Hamilton: Yeah, on the mediums was good. Yeah, just much different on the soft. Lots of grip, but only on the front and none at the rear, so could be balance. But ultimately, just... yeah, obviously I had the pace in the first two sessions and then all of a sudden, I just couldn't pull. I didn't have the grip on the rear for some reason on that last lap, so it is what it is.

Lewis Hamilton "But this is generally, this has generally been a bogey circuit for me. It's in, it's one of my worst circuits probably. So to get third yesterday in quali, I was, I was like, that's not so bad. Um, to get fifth today, given Charles is usually strong here over the years, I will take it"

Lewis Hamilton interview after sprint race "Normally we're on new tires in the dry, so when you drop the clutch it just spins. But today, um, when we pulled away, there was a lot of grip and straight away I was like, okay, I have to change my process, because you start in first or second gear. And so I decided to make an adjustment to how I was going to do the start. And you know, not knowing particularly if it was going to really, really pull off. But then I as soon as the lights went out, and I engaged that technique, I was past everybody"

Lewis Hamilton speaking about having Sepang back Lewis, as one of the few drivers that have raced and won here, not to mention four pole positions on the trot, you clearly know how to get around this track. Are you happy that it's back? What do you expect from this weekend? "I am happy it's back. It's one of the best circuits, really fantastic circuit. The layout is great. For a newer circuit that was built back in the day, this is one of the better ones. And, massively challenging physically. The tires are melting from the moment you leave the pit lane, the car is... everything's hot. So, I think it's.. I'm glad it's back on the calendar, because we want more tracks that provide racing, and this is a racing circuit"

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both are using the old power unit "Lewis has gone-has given the new power unit with the development, the enduro, the opportunity, development upgrades that he ran in Monza Lewis has returned that to pool to save the mileage on it, and is running the same power unit for the rest of the weekend as Charles Leclerc. So, there is no longer, after Friday, from today onwards, there is no longer a power deficit between Leclerc and Hamilton"
