This week marks the 25th anniversary of the King of Queens. By the time I signed on as Carrie Heffernan, I had been to hundreds of auditions, was cast in many pilots and some short-lived series, and was finally offered The King Of Queens. As soon as production started on season one, I knew I was home, and I am blessed to say I was part of a truly special show that went on for nine seasons and 207 episodes and still lives on successfully in syndication. Our cast was amazing...Kevin James, Jerry Stiller, Gary, Patton, Victor, Nicole. They all made me laugh every day. Our gifted guest and recurring cast made the show what it is. Working with the cast, crew, and our awesome and dedicated writers and producers was a dream come true for an actress. I want to let you all know that I see the comments where you say that you fall asleep every night to The King of Queens, that it got you through a rough day and tough times in your lives, that you laughed for the first time in your day watching us, or that you watch several episodes a day, or that you and your family bond over watching the episodes in syndication. One fan commented that her family is a three-generation King of Queens household: her mom watches it, she watches it, and now her daughter watches it. It means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for this experience that lives on and on. #TheKingofQueens

My bestie Michelle Visage and I like to go to our doctor’s appointments together when possible. We do our annual Pap smear visits together. But this time, as you can see in the clip below, she had to drag me to get a colonoscopy — and I’m so glad she did. (Full video linked in the post below)

I didn’t think The King of Queens was going to be a big hit! Not because I didn’t love Kevin James or think he was great — we had instant chemistry. And not because I didn’t think the writers were great; they were amazing. But by the time I got cast in The King of Queens, I had filmed a ton of pilots and been cast in a bunch of TV shows that ultimately got canceled. So I had become cynical and just assumed it wouldn’t work out. It’s been 27 years since The King of Queens premiered, and it’s still one of the top-rated shows in syndication. We are so grateful for all of you.

I was so sad to hear about Eric Dane's passing after he battled ALS and am sending my love to his family, especially his two daughters Billie and Georgia. I loved seeing this clip of us together on Saved By The Bell at a time when we were so young, I was about to turn 21 and he was 19. If you want to support efforts towards finding a cure for ALS, please follow I AM ALS.

I wanted to weigh in on this recent trend of people running into Scientology buildings, causing chaos, and posting the videos on social media. Whether these people are doing it for social media clout or to genuinely expose the abuses of Scientology, what they are doing is unhelpful, and by engaging in these actions, they are unwittingly helping Scientology. I want as many people as possible talking about the dangers and criminality of Scientology. But I spent decades on the other side of this, and if I had been confronted by people running through Scientology buildings and harassing me or staff, it would have pushed me further into Scientology. That is because Scientologists are deeply indoctrinated and radicalized and believe they are helping people. They have been brainwashed over many years into believing the outside world is filled with chaos and criminality, and that their mission, one they believe they are on through countless lifetimes, is to help eradicate this chaos. If someone is brainwashed for years into believing the outside world is filled with dangerous lunatics who wish to impede Scientology, a group of people running through a Scientology building is only going to confirm that belief and lead them to dedicate themselves even more to the cause they believe in. Mike Rinder and I discussed this on our podcast Fair Game: Scientologists, in particular Scientology Sea Org members, have a level of dedication and radicalization to Scientology that surpasses that of a jihadist terrorist. Running through a building is not going to break that or lead them to reconsider what they’ve given up their entire lives for. I also want to note that any Scientology building that someone is allowed to easily enter from the street is not a building where someone like David Miscavige or any senior Scientology executive is going to be. People at that level of Scientology’s criminal leadership will be behind gates and many layers of security. Please focus on exposing the dangers of Scientology, not making a spectacle out of it.

I need you to understand something… When I am at Costco, the grocery store, CVS, Walgreens, etc —- I am going to need to walk down every aisle. I need to see whats doin with toothpaste, what the latest is with aluminum foil…this is like a vacation for me. It is therapeutic…it is meditative. If you're with me, don't ask me why I’m walking down this aisle or that…let me live!

I was honored to give the keynote speech at the Quest for Democracy in Saudi Arabia Summit and wanted to share my full remarks. I agreed to give this keynote because patriotic Saudi citizens asked me to speak out about the abuses of the Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman (MBS). MBS is trying to whitewash his regime’s tyranny by weaponizing culture and popular culture against his citizens. Life in Saudi Arabia may appear glitzy and filled with entertainment to those in the world who don’t look closer, but it is soaked in blood and enforced silence thanks to MBS. I was touched by the wonderful introduction given to me by the Saudi women’s activist Lina Alhathloul لينا الهذلول, whose family, particularly her brave sister Loujain, have gone through hell under the leadership of MBS. Thank you عبدالله العودة Abdullah Alaoudh and Middle East Democracy Center for your gracious invitation.

I lived and worked with an 8th-grade education until I was 51 years old, something that is typical for Scientologists. Going to college in my 50s has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Getting an education has opened my eyes to a whole new world. This is from my keynote speech to the Quest for Democracy in Saudi Arabia Summit, where I talked about the human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia under the Crown Prince and why people in the media and politics have a responsibility to hold him accountable and not cave to the pressure and allure of a big paycheck. Link to my full speech in the post below.

Over the years, many of you have joined me in celebrating this truly special girl turned young woman, Maddie. I am heartbroken to share with you that Maddie has passed away at the age of 21. I’m sharing a glimpse into my friendship with Maddie because I want people to know how truly special she was. I met Maddie when Kevin and I were filming Kevin Can Wait. Make-A-Wish America reached out and told us that a young girl’s wish was to meet us. I was so touched. This beautiful little girl was a fan of King of Queens? And we of course said yes. Maddie and her family came to visit us on set, and what started as a meet-and-greet turned into a real, almost decade-long, lasting friendship. Maddie would text me almost every day. She sent me funny videos, shared stories about her life, and came out to LA with her family, where I attempted to get her to expand her palate (though she always circled back to her favorite, a Caesar salad). We shared many beautiful moments that have kept me positive in moments of difficulty and darkness, and she was about to come to LA again, where I planned on celebrating her for her birthday and her recent accomplishments. Maddie had Spinal Muscular Atrophy type two (SMA), but she never let it define her. She was excited to begin advocacy work and had recently told me she was officially going to start speaking publicly about her experiences, not even for herself, but to help others. She had big dreams, and I was so proud watching her grow into the leader I always knew she was. Maddie loved her family and friends fiercely. For her young age, she would prefer to be with friends and family, playing games and our favorite, Phase 10. She loved all things girly: nails, hair, makeup, the Timberwolves. And she hated snow (though she lived in Minnesota), and more importantly, she loved helping people. She wrote me love notes daily, and I only hope I had let her know how much joy she brought me. It is me who hopes that she knew how much I loved her. I received this text from her friend Emma, whom I knew from the many funny videos Maddie sent me of the two of them. I’ve included it below. After flying to Minnesota to say goodbye (although she had already passed while I was in the air), I wanted her to know what she meant to me. That she was thinking of me in this way and wanted me to have the things she mentioned, that she cared so much, is also truly touching and heartbreaking. Maddie had so much life ahead of her. Her disease didn’t stop her spirit or dim her light. She was hopeful, brilliant, and genuinely excited for her future. I will miss her texts, her videos, and hearing from her every day. They always made me smile. I will miss her humor and the light she brought into this world every single day. Maddie had just turned 21. Her little body just couldn’t contain the big, beautiful life she was living. She was a force, taken too soon. If you feel moved, it would mean the world to her to support the cause she believed in so passionately: finding a cure for spinal muscular atrophy. Link to support Cure SMA is in my bio.

I have an important update regarding LAPD, Shelly Miscavige, and Scientology. In late June, thanks to many of you putting on pressure, I met with LAPD Chief Michel Moore. To say that the meeting was a disaster is an understatement. From Chief Moore's antagonistic attitude to his insistence that Scientology is an excellent partner to the LAPD, I left the meeting in shock. Full Update On The Meeting Here:

This is what Scientology is: a fascist state and a cult of personality. To call Scientology a cult diminishes how horrific an organization it is. I hope you’ll watch and learn that Scientology isn’t just some weird Hollywood organization but one of the most dangerous criminal entities on earth. This is a clip from my keynote speech about human rights in Saudi Arabia that I gave at the Quest for Democracy in Saudi Arabia Summit last year. My full remarks are on my timeline right here on X.

Like many actors, I have been interviewed by Sam Rubin many times, whether on the red carpet or when I would call into KTLA's morning show. Sam was a true gentleman; he made the people he interviewed feel incredibly comfortable and safe, which is why he got many meaningful and memorable responses to his thoughtful questions. Sam was also a comforting presence for so many Angelenos, always on our screens in the good times and bad. Everyone loved Sam, so I find it noteworthy to mention that Scientology attacked him every time he interviewed me. To Sam's great credit, he never let that stop him from interviewing me again. Sam's KTLA family, his children Perry, Rory, Darcy, Colby, and his wife Leslie will be in my thoughts and prayers.
