Shorts

The Dance That Almost Happened Too Soon Director Tobe Hooper, originally wanted Leatherface to stop at the gas station, twirl the chainsaw, and “just get crazy” after chasin' Sally there. Gunnar Hansen did it, but Hooper cut the scene so the audience wouldn’t know Leatherface was part of the family yet, and so that open doorway stayed terrifyin'. However, Hooper then told Hansen to do it again for the real end scene. After Sally escapes, Hooper just wanted frustrated foot stomps and chainsaw gestures. Hansen turned it into the wild spinnin' dance we all know. He later said swingin' that saw so close to the camera was his last chance to kill the director after the brutal shoot. Cut from the middle. Born at the end. Still one of the most iconic images in horror.
