Tragically, my sweet, courageous cousin Rose was murdered this morning by a 16 year old palestinian kid. She was murdered standing guard as a Defender of the Jewish People, and a defender of the guards of our ancient old city of Jerusalem. She was 20 years old. I took this video on Friday, and little did I know it would be my last time seeing her. We don’t share the Muslim world’s luxury of viewing history through the myopic lens of the past few centuries. 1000 years before Islam was founded, just like Rose, countless defenders of our holy city were slain as we watched the destruction of our first temple; and 500 years later, countless defenders of our holy city were again slain as we witnessed the destruction of our second temple. We’ve been yearning to return to our homeland since centuries before Hadrian coined the word “Palestine.” History will remember Rose for the infectiously sweet, deceptively dangerous, honorable Warrior of the Jewish People that she was, much like her ancient ancestors. May Rose’s memory be a blessing. רות אלישבע בת חיים דוד

Her son was killed by the IDF. He was a Hamas hostage and he was mistaken for a terrorist when he tried escaping from Gaza. Not only did she forgive the soldiers who killed her son but she insisted on meeting them and to show she wasn’t mad. “He cried from the minute he saw me… for an hour he just cried and cried, and I tried to comfort him.” “I told him, we are not sitting at home just crying - we are doing things for Yotam. What are you doing in life?” The strength of this women is unbelievable. WATCH

“We are Here! Where Are YOU?” On a scorching summer day in Rome, the Ponovezher Rav, Rav Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman, insisted on being taken to the Arch of Titus—the monument built to celebrate the Roman destruction of the Beis HaMikdash. When asked why he wanted to go, he simply said, “I have something to tell Titus.” Standing in the blistering heat before the arch, he raised his voice and declared: “Titus, Titus! You thought you destroyed us. You paraded our holy vessels through these streets. But where are you now? Avu bist du? I am here. We are here. The Torah lives on.” Then he turned and walked away. Empires crumble. The Jewish people endure. 🎥: Rabbi Chaim Zvi Senter & his bochurim at the Arch of Titus.
