Today seemed, IMO, to be a significant statement practice for Jacob Cowing. He grabbed one of Brock Purdy's numerous (perfect) deep passes but it goes deeper than that. So far in 1-on-1s, Brett Toth has seen more pass-protecting success than Connor Colby and Robert Jones, both of whom will need to improve there to allow the 49ers to breathe easier. Maybe he'll be a "break glass in case of emergency" option 🏈The much-hyped new looks of Raheem Morris' defense are a real thing — the 49ers have indeed expanded their repertoire both in terms of fronts and coverages.
