Smuggling Scheme Unraveled — Two Children Safely Recovered by Texas DPS Trooper 2/11/26: A Texas DPS Trooper stopped a black Cadillac XT5 on US-90 in Kinney County and uncovered a human smuggling attempt. During the stop, the driver was found smuggling four illegal immigrants: • One adult male from Honduras • One adult female from Belize • Two children, ages 6 and 8, from Belize Further investigation revealed the male from Honduras paid $10,000 to be smuggled into the U.S. and transported to Florida. On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, just after 4:00 p.m., a Texas DPS Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a white Peterbilt truck tractor on IH-35 near mile marker 13 outside of Laredo. A search of the truck revealed 20 illegal immigrants concealed in the truck tractor's sleeping area. The driver, Antonio Brown, 47, a resident of Nevada, was charged with smuggling of persons and booked into the Webb Co. Jail. The 20 illegal immigrants from Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala were referred to the United States Border Patrol. DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division (CID) continues to investigate the case.
