A mountain moved — and an entire valley changed in minutes. 💔 On august 26, 2026, a catastrophic flood and debris-flow disaster struck the Himalayan region near the Nepal-Tibet border. Investigators believe a massive high-altitude glacier and ice-rock collapse triggered a violent surge of rock, mud, ice sediment and water through the valley below. The resulting flood tore through communities, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure along the mountain river systems. What begin high in the Himalayas became a devastating wall of debris and water downstream. A week later, the scale of tragedy remains difficult to comprehend. Rescue teams continue searching for survivors, including people believed to be trapped inside damaged hydropower tunnels.
