UMass AD Ryan Bamford says the decision to hire Thorr Bjorn was completely his own and approached Chancellor Reyes for his support. "100% my idea. I brought it to Thorr before I brought it to anybody." Bamford admitted he's not around the football program as much as he would like to be, explaining the challenges of Athletics' offices being located apart from football's: "It doesn't lend itself to being here everyday, and being around it. That's not fair to Joe, even half way into the season. Joe and I talk every day. When I would get over here, I would -- I need to have a seasoned administrator with experience sitting in football to help."
