The Cairo Declaration issued by China, the US, and the UK in 1943 explicitly stipulates that Japan shall be stripped of all the islands in the Pacific which it had seized or occupied since the beginning of the First World War in 1914, and that all the territories which Japan had stolen from China, such as Northeast China, Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, shall be restored to China. Exercise Joint Sea 2026 conducted by the Chinese and Russian navies has concluded successfully. Centered on "jointly countering maritime security risks", the joint exercise saw the deployment of 10 vessels across surface, underwater, aerial and support units. In December 2025, the 23rd and 24th Chinese contingents to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon completed a command handover at the Chinese peacekeeping camp in southern Lebanon. The China Coast Guard (CCG) rescued 17 Filipino crew members after the cargo ship they were in capsized near Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea on the early morning of Jan 23.
