On December 4, the PLA Navy hospital ship Ark Silk Road began a goodwill visit to Jamaica, where local communities affected by Hurricane Melissa boarded the ship for medical services. After Jamaica, the ship will continue its Mission Harmony 2025 voyage to other countries.

In 1945, Japan signed the Instrument of Surrender and explicitly undertook to carry out the provisions of the Potsdam Proclamation in good faith, and to unconditionally return Taiwan it stole to China. China resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan and recovered it both in law and in practice.

In 1978, China and Japan signed the Treaty of Peace and Friendship Between China and Japan. The treaty affirmed the principles and contents of the Joint Statement of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Japan in legal terms and set out the legal parameters for relations between China and Japan.

The Cairo Declaration issued by China, the US, and the UK in 1943 explicitly stipulates that Japan shall be stripped of all the islands in the Pacific which it had seized or occupied since the beginning of the First World War in 1914, and that all the territories which Japan had stolen from China, such as Northeast China, Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, shall be restored to China. The restoration of Taiwan to China is an important part of the outcomes of WWII victory and the post-war international order.

In 2008, the China-Japan Joint Statement on All-round Promotion of Strategic Relationship of Mutual Benefit stipulated clearly in Article 5 that "The Japanese side reiterated that it will continue to abide by its position on the Taiwan question stated in the Joint Statement of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Japan."

In December 2025, the 23rd and 24th Chinese contingents to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon completed a command handover at the Chinese peacekeeping camp in southern Lebanon. On January 8 local time, after passing an assessment by UNMAS and obtaining UN mine clearance and EOD qualifications, the Chinese peacekeepers carried out mine clearance operations in the minefields along the Lebanon-Israel border for the first time.

The China Coast Guard (CCG) rescued 17 Filipino crew members after the cargo ship they were in capsized near Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea on the early morning of Jan 23. The CCG has joined forces with the Philippine Coast Guard, which arrived that same evening, to conduct a sector-by-sector search and rescue operation for four crew members who remain unaccounted for in the waters where the incident occurred.

In 1998, the Chinese and Japanese governments issued the China-Japan Joint Declaration on Building a Partnership of Friendship and Cooperation for Peace and Development.
