Elon Musk: “You’d think that if you’re going to be appointed as a judge, you have to have proven that you have an excellent knowledge of the law and that you will make your decisions according to the law. That’s what we assume should be a requirement. You’ve got to know what the law is, and then you need to make decisions in accordance with the law. Not vibes. You can’t be just vibing as a judge.”

Elon Musk: "We want to have empathy that is deep, not shallow. I strongly believe we should care about humanity and we should care about the future. But we need to have empathy that is deep, not shallow Shallow empathy is caring about criminals, but deep empathy is caring about the victims of the criminals.”

Elon Musk: "We’re in the final stages of completion of Optimus 3, which is really going to be by far the most advanced robot in the world, nothing's even close. In fact, I haven’t even sent any demos of robots that are as good as Optimus 3, frankly. We’ll start production on Optimus 3 this summer, but very slow at first. And then probably reach high-volume production around summer next year. We’ll have Optimus 4 design complete by next year like, we will try to release a new robot design every year, an improved robot design every year."

Elon Musk: "Satellites are just solar panels and a battery. That’s how all satellites work. With the Starlink satellite network, there’s 7,000 (now ~10K) satellites orbiting the Earth, and all they use is solar panels and a battery My prediction is, long-term, a majority of power on Earth - in fact, eventually it might be like 90% or more- will be solar panels with batteries That's my prediction. My predictions have a pretty good track record"

Elon Musk: “Nothing any of my companies have done has been to stifle competition. In fact, we've done the opposite, At Tesla, we have open-sourced our patents. Anyone can use our patents for free. At SpaceX, we don't use patents. Once in a while, we'll file a patent just so some patent troll doesn't cause trouble. But we've done nothing anti-competitive.”

Elon Musk: “You think that someone like Bill Gates who started a technology company that’s one of the biggest companies in the world, Microsoft —you think he'd be really quite, strong on the sciences, but actually, he's not strong in the sciences, He came to visit me at the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin and was telling me that it's impossible to have a long-range, semi-truck. And I was like, 'Well, but we literally have them, and you can drive them, and Pepsi is literally using them right now’ This was really surprising”

Elon Musk: “I think probably the biggest danger of AI or maybe the biggest danger of AI and robotics going wrong is government People who are opposed to corporations or worried about corporations should really worry the most about government. Government is just a corporation in the limit; it is the biggest corporation with a monopoly on violence The government could potentially use AI and robotics to suppress the population. That’s a serious concern”

Elon Musk: “I think ultimately we will have to have some kind of universal basic income. I don’t think we’re going to have a choice. I think it’s going to be necessary There will be fewer and fewer jobs that a robot cannot do better These are not things that I wish would happen - these are simply things that I think probably will happen If my assessment is correct, then we need to say, ‘What are we going to do about it?’ Universal basic income is going to be necessary The much harder challenge is how do people then have meaning? A lot of people derive their meaning from their employment If you’re not needed, if there’s not a need for your labor, what’s the meaning? Do you have meaning? Do you feel useless? That’s a much harder problem to deal with”

Elon Musk: “If you want to recruit talented and driven people, you must state the mission, the problem to solve, and show you’re willing to pour blood, sweat, and tears into it with a convincing reason why it matters. Motivation comes from three things: enjoying the work itself, fair financial rewards, and knowing the work will make a real difference in the world.”

ELON MUSK: "You should be able to have a Starlink, like you have an AT&T or T-Mobile or Verizon. You could have an account with Starlink that works with your Starlink antenna at home for your WiFi as well as on your phone It would be a comprehensive solution for high bandwidth at home and for high bandwidth direct to cell"

Elon Musk: "I thought the self-driving problem would be hard, but it was harder than I thought. It's not like I thought it would be easy, I thought it would be very hard, but it was actually way harder than even that. I mean, what it comes down to at the end of the day is to solve self-driving, you basically need to recreate what humans do to drive, which is: humans drive with optical sensors (eyes) and biological neural nets. That's how the entire road system is designed to work, So for actually for full self-driving to work, we have to recreate that in digital form."

Elon Musk:”I am the reason OpenAI exists, it wouldn't exist without me. I came up with the name. The name 'OpenAI' refers to open source. So the intent was: what's the opposite of Google? It would be an open-source nonprofit. Because Google is closed-source, for-profit.”

Elon Musk: ”At Gigabay, We’re expanding integration to produce 1,000 Starships per year. The structure itself is enormous, by some measures, it will be the largest building on Earth, And it’s designed for 1,000 Starships a year. We’re also building a Gigabay in Florida, so we’ll have two facilities, one in Texas and one in Florida.”

Elon Musk: "If somebody executes well, I'm a huge fan, and if they don't, I'm not. I generally think it's a good idea to hire for talent, and drive, and trustworthiness. And I think goodness of heart is important—I undervalued that at one point. So, are they a good person, trustworthy, and smart, talented, and hardworking. If so, you can add domain knowledge. But those fundamental traits, those fundamental properties, you cannot change."

ELON MUSK: “If you're a normal human being and you speak freely, there are times when you will say things that you subsequently regret or are foolish, of course! But if you're constantly going through a filter, now you're not being real. So I think it's better to be real than to go through a filter”

Elon Musk: "I think it's always good when thinking about something that you're afraid of, when thinking about fear, look fear straight in the eye, and it will disappear, The nature of fear is that people don't look at it. Look at it directly and it will be gone"
