As great as Alien was, it didn't have a song and dance number, and Mel Brooks fixed that. (📽️Spaceballs, 1987)

Gary Oldman giggling at farts dubbed into his movies, then laughing 'til the tears roll down his cheeks, may well be the happiest minute of your day!

This was on TV all the time when I was a kid. Always late at night: 1972's Emmy Award-winning La Cabina (The Telephone Box), from Spanish director Antonio Mercero. Even edited, once seen, it stays with you forever. 🎃📞😱

Though Ledger and Phoenix's takes on the Joker earned them both Oscars, Kurtwood Smith's performance as Clarence Boddicker in RoboCop (1987) most closely captured the character's unbridled, anarchic menace. In all but name and design, he remains the best live action Joker.

Given a cut of Star Wars' backend grosses, Alec Guinness hoped he'd maybe double his initial $150k salary. But from the initial release he made more than $7 million, and ultimately almost $95 million. Here's Guinness with an amusing tale of his remarkable good fortune.

Did you know Tim Curry was originally hired to voice Joker on Batman: The Animated Series? Officially, he was deemed too scary for the role, and none of his recordings were used. Curry, however, maintains he was fired, simply for having bronchitis.

TRUE STORY: When the original Star Wars trilogy first aired on Chilean TV, rather than breaking up the action with commercials, beer ads were edited directly into scenes. Not sure if these are better than ad breaks, but they're definitely funnier. Lucasfilm weren't amused though.

Incredible how many Hanna-Barbera characters were voiced by Daws Butler. Here's just a small sample.

Unbelievably sad that Catherine O'Hara is no longer with us. Gone at 71, which is no age, really. Here's a wonderful old clip of her singing Kidnap the Sandy Claws from The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), with partners in crime Danny Elfman and the late, great Paul Reubens. Lock, Shock and Barrel, together again at the Hollywood Bowl.

Nobody did it better than Roger Moore, born today in 1927. 🍸 "I had an absolute splendid time doing the Bond films. I played a lot of backgammon, managed to steal a lot of wardrobe, and got well paid. Nothing could beat it!"
