Happy Somali Independence Day! Here in Minnesota, home to one of the largest Somali communities in the United States, we celebrate the resilience, culture, and leadership that continue to enrich our city and community.

When you come for one of us, you come for all of us. We stand with our immigrant neighbors.

Today, we lost another Minneapolis neighbor after multiple ICE agents pummeled him and shot him to death. How many more people need to die or get shot before this ends? President Trump, I am calling on you to put the American people and this American city first &amp; get ICE out.

Minneapolis residents have shown the world who we are—resilient, welcoming, and proud of this city. Now it’s time to come see it for yourself. Grab a meal by the lake, spend a day in our parks, explore our neighborhoods—and experience the spirit that makes Minneapolis special.

The Trump admin will tell you ICE is here for safety. That is a lie. They are creating chaos and danger while tearing families apart. Enough. We want them out.
