In a sensational heist, an Ahmedabad bank employee has been arrested for allegedly stealing ₹8.70 crore from a Bank of Baroda vault linked to the RBI Currency Chest. The accused, Harsiddh — a bank employee for the past 15 years — allegedly smuggled out the cash disguised as scrap material on January 13 and managed to hide the theft for nearly 90 days, reportedly believing the CCTV footage would auto-delete. According to reports, he used the stolen money to buy a bungalow, a shop, a truck, and also invested in cryptocurrency. He was eventually caught after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced. Police have recovered ₹2.20 crore in cash and seized multiple assets.
