Palestinian representatives met with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights during the development of its upcoming Nakba exhibit. This should be a Canadian museum for a Canadian perspective on human rights, not foreign agendas. I asked the minister for his position. #cdnpoli

Iran is a serial violator of human rights. Canada has designated it a State Supporter of Terrorism under the State Immunity Act. But last Wednesday, the Liberal gov’t supported Iran’s membership to a UN committee which oversees human rights. I asked the gov’t, why? #cdnpoli

In 2021, MPs, including Liberals, voted to recognize the genocide, including forced labour, of Uyghurs by the PRC. In response, the Liberal government imposed sanctions on one PRC entity and four PRC officials in Xinjiang for these human rights violations. Around the same time, Article 23.6 of CUSMA came into force, which ban imports produced using forced labour into the North American free trade zone. Today, a Liberal MP intimated that Uyghur forced labour has not taken place, while questioning a former PCO official, Margaret McCuaig-Johnston 🇨🇦. The Liberal government needs to answer the following question: Does the government still assess that Uyghur forced labour has and is taking place? This is important. If the government no longer assesses forced labour is taking place, that has implications for: - the sanctions imposed on the PRC entity and officials, - the imports of products from Xinjiang province into Canada, - the review of CUSMA, and - Canada-U.S. trade, including transshipments from Canada to the U.S. (the U.S. currently assesses that Uyghur forced labour is taking place). #cdnpoli

The MOU between the Liberal gov’t & the PRC’s Ministry of Public Security remains secret. Beijing abused the previous MOU with the Harper gov’t, including coercing at least 25 Canadians to return to the PRC under Operation Fox Hunt. The new MOU needs to be released. #cdnpoli

Paul Chiang has uttered one of the most undemocratic things ever said in an election: That his political opponent be handed over to a hostile regime for a bounty. Mark Carney’s decision to stand behind Chiang will negatively impact our democracy for years to come. #cdnpoli

Hong Kong gave Jimmy Lai 20 years in prison simply for exercising rights & freedoms guaranteed in an international treaty, the Sino-British Joint Declaration. The sham trial & sentence are a violation of this treaty. On that basis, he should be immediately released. #cdnpoli

It’s been 4 years since war began in Ukraine & 4 years since we called on the gov’t to expedite LNG exports. It’s been 8 months since Parliament gave gov’t new powers to expedite LNG projects. To date no new LNG projects. And now Iran war constraining LNG/oil supply. #cdnpoli

Last election’s debate, PM Carney said China is Canada’s biggest security threat. Minister Anand is now talking of a “strategic partnership” with Beijing, including security. Is this another example of the PM saying one thing in the election & doing another after? #cdnpoli

The U.S. has the world’s largest intelligence network. Based on that intelligence, President Biden has said the State of Israel & the IDF were not responsible for the explosion at the Gaza hospital. Why isn’t the foreign minister correcting & clarifying the record? #cdnpoli

Last July, rating agency Fitch warned a material rise in Canada’s deficits & debt-to-GDP could lead to a credit downgrade. The budget doubles deficits & increases debt-to-GDP. It’s also generationally unfair. It saddles younger Canadians with a mountain of new national debt.

The Prime Minister says he was not informed about a PRC diplomat targeting Canadian MPs. He wasn’t informed because he setup things NOT to be informed. This is a complete failure of leadership on part of the PM. The PM is responsible for the machinery of government. #cdnpoli

Last election, when asked to name Canada’s biggest security threat, Mr. Carney replied “China”. Less than a year later, Mr. Carney entered into a “strategic partnership” with Beijing and we still don’t have a Foreign Influence Transparency Registry. Where is it? #cdnpoli

Carney said last election foreign interference is Canada’s biggest security threat. The bill for a Foreign Influence Transparency Registry became law June 2024. The government said it would take about 12 months to implement. Sixteen have passed. Where’s the registry? #cdnpoli

It’s clear. Samidoun is knowingly acting on behalf of, at the direction of or in association with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist group under the Criminal Code. This qualifies Samidoun for a terrorism listing. Why hasn’t this happened? #cdnpoli

The House ordered the gov’t to handover the Winnipeg lab docs. The gov’t refused, saying it would hurt nat’l security. Now 4 MPs & 3 judges have said the bulk of info withheld should be released. Will gov’t admit it was protecting itself & not nat’l security? #cdnpoli

The last Liberal budget’s fiscal anchor had a deficit of less than 1% of GDP & declining debt-to-GDP ratios. This budget’s fiscal anchor has deficits averaging 2% of GDP & growing debt-to-GDP ratios. The minister won’t admit his fiscal anchor is weaker than his predecessor’s. #cdnpoli

Ibbitson, Globe & Mail, rates the Liberal platform: "The deficits get worse rather than get better and they're already pretty serious" Carney’s Liberals are upping spending as Trudeau’s Liberals did. Same policies, same results. Time for change. Vote Conservative. #cdnpoli
