A British woman was stopped by police at a train station and told she was under investigation after a passenger on a train reported feeling uncomfortable and alleged she had made comments referencing the Holocaust. Police said they had received a text message alleging she had denied the Holocaust, and subsequently tracked her down and told her she was being investigated for a "racially aggravated public order" offence. The woman, Fiona Rose Diamond, an activist with anti-Zionist views, said she was expressing political views about the political ideology Zionism. She said she had just returned from an oncology appointment in London when she was met by British Transport Police at the station. She also said she believed the timing and circumstances were not a coincidence. The activist argued that anti-Zionism is increasingly being deliberately conflated with antisemitism in order to silence criticism of Israel and suppress dissenting political views in Britain. "I am more than entitled to hold beliefs about a political ideology," she said in the video, adding that her grandfather was Jewish. The incident has sparked renewed debate over free speech in the UK.

A heavily pregnant Palestinian woman has spoken out after a Dutch police officer's assault put her in hospital and caused her to give birth prematurely. It comes as footage showing Dutch police officers throwing her to the ground and dragging her during an arrest at an asylum seekers' centre in Zeist sparked widespread outrage. The woman says she approached officers to ask whether she could remain with her husband as he was being detained when police suddenly used unprovoked excessive force against her. Video circulating online appears to show an officer grabbing her and forcing her to the ground, while additional footage shows officers dragging her as she lay on the ground. According to the woman, the incident unfolded shortly after her husband learned that his brother had been killed in Gaza. She says the devastating news left him distressed and led to a broken TV, which brought police to the centre. The woman was later forced to give birth prematurely following the incident and had to continue hospital visits after the birth. She said that when she requested to make a complaint, authorities informed her there was no recourse available regarding the officers' actions.

"What you're seeing here is Nazi Deutschland 2.0." A pro-Palestine supporter in Berlin says police arrested him for the third time over a lapel pin that prosecutors and a judge had already returned to him multiple times. While being escorted away by police, he accused German authorities of repeating the same repression Germany once used against Jews and leftists, saying Muslims and pro-Palestine voices are now being targeted instead. "Their grandfathers did the same thing against Jews and leftists. Now it's against Muslims and leftists," he said. "They arrested me for the third time for wearing this pin. I've received it back twice now from the prosecutor and from the judge." He described the repeated arrests as intimidation and political repression, adding: "This is what fascism looks like." The incident comes amid growing criticism of Germany’s crackdown on pro-Palestine demonstrations and dissent opposing Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

A nun was assaulted in occupied East Jerusalem earlier this week amid growing concern over Israeli attacks against Christians. The 48-year-old, a researcher at Jerusalem’s French School of Biblical and Archaeological Research, was attacked on Tuesday in front of the Cenacle, a site on Mount Zion regarded as holy by both Christians and Jews. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which is affiliated with the nun’s research centre, said the attack was “not an isolated incident, but part of a troubling pattern of rising hostility toward the Christian community and its symbols”.

"And we came within about 30 minutes of having a war." Israel tried to pressure Barack Obama to launch military strikes on Iran, according to former US secretary of state Antony Blinken, who said Israeli leaders warned they would attack themselves if Washington refused. Obama rejected the push for war, arguing the better approach to Iran’s nuclear program was "very muscular diplomacy" backed by global sanctions rather than immediate military action. Blinken also revealed the US nearly entered another regional war after the October 7 attacks, when Israeli officials gave false information insisting Hezbollah was about to attack from Lebanon and pushed for a pre-emptive strike. According to Blinken, Washington came within about 30 minutes of a new conflict before the situation was halted.

State police deployed tear gas, flash grenades and batons against demonstrators outside Delaney Hall, an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, as serious concerns mounted over the treatment of detainees inside. Reporting from the scene, Middle East Eye witnessed officers using extreme crowd-control measures as protesters attempted to erect barricades in defence. Middle East Eye reporter Mounira Elsamra said police appeared to make "no differentiation between journalists and activists and protesters", and described seeing people struck with batons during the operation. The unrest comes as detainees continue a hunger and labour strike that organisers say began with more than 300 participants. Advocacy groups say detainees have faced intimidation and retaliation in response to the protest. Campaigners also say some detainees have been asked to sign English-language documents they do not understand and have struggled to communicate with immigration officials because translators were unavailable. The incident brings about renewed criticism of the already controversial US immigration detention system, with advocates calling for greater transparency and independent oversight of conditions inside facilities such as Delaney Hall.
